Security Officer

Job Introduction

As a Security Officer at Sodexo at Burton-on-Trent, you'll be responsible for designated assigned sites, to ensure standards of service detailed in the service level agreement, KPIs and within the schedules of the contractual terms and conditions are achieved, maintained, and developed through effective supervision of the service line. Every day is unique, and the things you do will have a significant impact on it. Join Sodexo and be part of something greater. What you’ll do: 

  • Carry out safety walks, conversation and to supervise Safety standards, across area of responsibility thereby ensuring that our people and customers are always kept safe whilst ensuring the site folder is up to date with all new and relevant policies. 
  • Deliver all mandatory training within a given timeline and support with additional training needs to the front-line teams.  
  • Ensure effective force management that we have full coverage whilst monitoring attendance / absence and following policy and procedures around triggers and absence management. 
  • Ensure staff records are accurately maintained and HR issues are dealt with appropriately and in accordance with Legislation and Company policy.  
  • Liaising with control room team with resourcing planned activities, reactive and ad hoc requests.  
  • Visit sites across the region minimum of 3 sites a week to conduct routine welfare visits for all staff throughout the area of responsibility.  
  • Act as a first point of contact to address any issues that arise on site, from client or customer in a timely manner. 
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks and/or instructions as directed by line manager. 
What you bring: 
  • SIA Licence holder (Door supervisor and CCTV)
  • 3 - 5 years experience within the security industry and as a supervisor
  • Have a sound knowledge of the Quality Management Systems (Security)
  • Able to use computerised systems in operation within the security sector
  • Good understanding of the CCTV, fire and security systems
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to work on own initiative, individually and as part of a team
  • Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards

  • To be able to write accurate, legible operational logs, security reports and statements.

Role Responsibility

  • Ensure legislative requirements, local client site rules, regulations, and Sodexo policies/procedures are adhered to across the account 
  • Effective collaborative working with Sodexo external partners, MOJ and Her Majesty’s Prisons and Probation Service (HMPPS) employees and MOJ consumers and personnel 
  • Flexibility on work schedule and location, with flexibility around hours of work, including overnight stays are required in order to meet business needs and as appropriate/necessary 
  • Ensure that all staff training is up to date in line with the  
  • Ensure site folders are in date and fully compliant  
  • All noncompliance to company H&S and People policies and procedures are investigated. 
  • Effective management of Kronos (Time management system) ensuring accurate timecards and follow ups actions in all absent tiggers.  
  • All issues are escalated with clear and concise communication to line manager  
  • Responsible to up to 12 sites  
  • Cira 25 front line colleagues 
  • Minimum of 6 safety walks per month  
  • Minimum of 3 site visits per week to include welfare visits of all staff  
  • Minimum of 4 Recognising you’s per month followed by 1 nomination for Star of the month at least once per quarter 

The Ideal Candidate

Essential: 

  • Able to work on own initiative within a team environment 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a similar role or environment  
  • Good numerical, interpersonal and communication skills, must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication.  
  • Able to demonstrate working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) 
  • Minimum of 2 years driving experience and over the age of 25 (Manual)  
  • DBS and BPSS vetting is required for all roles within contract  
  • Supervisory skills and or experience  

 

Desirable: 

  • IOSH Level 2 or equivalent safety qualification  
  • Level 2 or above qualification and or Member of a facilities organisation such as IWFM 
  • SIA licence  

Package Description

  • £11.44 per hour
  • 56  hours per week
  • 12 hour Shifts - 3 Days, 3 Night then 3 Off
  • Must hold SIA licence
