Security Manager

Job Introduction

To be responsible for the efficient and effective day to day running of the security operation at Richmond American University. To provide a safe and secure environment in support of excellent people care and leaving people with a good impression of the security service.

 

Role Responsibility

· Manage the security team shift rota and assist with drafting the rotas into TimeGate.

· Organise and oversee the day-to-day work of the Security Officers.

· Induct new security staff.

· Oversee the ID card and door lock system with special responsibility for setting up cards for new employees

· Monitor and review Incident Reports completed by the Security Officers.

· Check emails and make sure requests and information are communicated to the security team.

· Responsibility for Initial Response Emergency Contact call cover if required. Rota to be agreed with the Security Manager.

· Undertake regular patrols of the site with the security team.

· Provide a first point of call for visitors and contractors to the Mega Labs and issue visitor/contractor badges and log visitors/contractors entering and leaving the main buildings.

· issue visitors ID cards.

· Respond to emergencies and take appropriate action in accordance with the Mega Labs processes.

· Assist with the conservation of energy and turn off unnecessary lights and equipment whilst on patrol.

· Monitor CCTV screens and take appropriate action as required, control and monitor issue of keys.

· Provide a telephone answering service, respond to telephone enquiries and forward calls.

· Communicate with Staff, Visitors and Contractors regarding enquiries, incidents, and emergencies.

· Check fire exits, fire doors and fire appliances.

· Undertake fire alarm functional tests alongside with Mega Labs teams.

· Undertake weekly emergency lighting tests and inspections.

· Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Services Manager

· Adhere to and promote the Mega Labs Health and Safety policies and procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

§ To deliver a consistent level of service, within the Company's standards, to the contract

§ SIA Licence holder

§ Have a sound knowledge of Security techniques

§ Fully understands the Site and local Emergency procedures.

§ Understanding of the computer systems in operation within the security section.

§ Understanding of the CCTV system in operation.

§ Understanding of all alarm systems.

§ Understands the need to maintain diplomatic silence.

§ Understands the need to display an official but courteous manner at all times.

 

Desirable

§ Working Knowledge of BS7858:2013

§ CCTV Licence

§ First Aid
