Roman Catholic Chaplain

This is a chaplaincy job in an establishment which provides pastoral and faith specific care to prisoners and staff.

You will provide for the religious care of prisoners and staff in the Roman Catholic Church faith tradition including all sacramental provision as appropriate, and appropriate pastoral care for all irrespective of faith or tradition.

Role Responsibility

You will work with colleagues to ensure the delivery of the specification “Faith and Pastoral Care”, and also the broader work of chaplaincy in delivering faith and non faith based courses. Will contribute to the process by which the Director and Chaplaincy Manager are assured that the specification is being delivered.

You'll engage with, and build contacts with their own faith community towards aiding the resettlement of offenders.

This is a non‐operational job with no line management or supervisory responsibilities.

The Ideal Candidate

The post holder will have the formal endorsement from the Roman Catholic Church through the NOMS RC Church Faith Advisor.

You will be asked to provide written confirmation attesting to credentials, qualifications and accountability of each candidate sponsored by the Roman Catholic Church.

You will have shown to the local Bishop and NOMS Faith Advisor of the Roman Catholic Church that they can effectively practice and fulfil the skills and competencies required of a Faith leader.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a prison, hospital, educational or industrial Chaplaincy department; or within a Multi Faith environment.
  • Formal recognised qualification in theology or religious study and Professional Recognition by the Roman Catholic Church generally representing at least 3 years of study, normally to Degree level.
