Retail Manager - Healthcare

Job Introduction

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Retail Operations Manager to join our Healthcare segment at Royal Stoke University Hospital and meet the needs of the visitors and staff.  In this role you will be responsible for the overall management and efficient operation of the Retail & Catering outlets to include Hospitality, Costa PTS, Subway, vending and the public restaurant. This is a busy hospital environment where you will be faced with daily staffing challenges; reacting to events in a timely manner using your excellent communication skills will be the key to your success. You will thrive on a challenge ensuring all retail sales are maximised. You will action issues raised by internal and external audits within a fixed timeframe and comply with Health & Safety and Food Safety legislation. This role will suit someone who is highly adaptable and comfortable with working in a changing and evolving environment. A food retail background is preferred; most importantly you will be a real people person!

Role Responsibility

• Take overall responsibility for ensuring that the retail P&L account at UHNS achieve budgets
• Develop a high performing retail team at UHNS, with clear training and personal development plans
• Plan, organise and co-ordinate all operational retail activity within the Contract
• Manage and deploy the retail team within effective workload schedules and priorities
• Drive retail performance through adherence to retail/brand standards and the execution of business improvement initiatives driven by the wider retail team
• Ensure standards of service detailed in the service level agreement and within the schedules of the contractual terms and conditions are achieved, maintained and developed
• Manage and adhere to Sodexo’s lease obligations
• Contribute to and support the wider Retail Strategy by taking a direct involvement in business improvement projects in retail. This will involve supporting project work in other sites and with the wider retail team.
• Be an integral part of the wider Sodexo Healthcare retail team, building strong networks with managers from other sites and other support functions
• Build and maintain effective relationships with staff, clients and other departmental managers

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience of working in a Retail operations role within the food retail sector
• Experience of successfully managing and delivering profit and loss accounts, and budgets
• Strong retail background operating multiple outlets within a pressurised environment
• High level of commercial acumen
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to standards
• Experience in sub-tenant obligations
• Operational knowledge, skills and experience in Retail Management
• Effective communication and customer care skills with patients, visitors, customers, clients and staff
• Resilience to manage multiple tasks and prioritisation
• Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative within a team environment
• Ability to interpret and utilise financial and commercial information
• Experienced in using Microsoft Office
• High standard of literacy and numeracy Desirable
• Experience in a Healthcare or PFI environment.

Package Description

£30,800 - £33,300 + great benefits

Location: Royal Stoke University Hospital

Fixed term full time 12-month contract

Work Pattern – 40hrs pw Monday to Friday, flexibility essential to cover occasional out of hours
