Job Introduction
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Retail Cook to join our team at RAF Brize Norton, Carterton. Delivering high-quality food services at a busy military base. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a structured and rewarding environment, supporting the daily operations that keep our service personnel fueled and ready.
What you'll do:
As part of the catering team, you will:
Support food preparation, cooking, and presentation in line with military menus and recipe standards
Ensure all food is cooked, stored, and served at correct temperatures, with accurate compliance checks
Provide a high standard of customer service to military personnel and visitors
Attend team briefs, huddles, and reviews to support personal development and performance
Maintain a clean, hygienic workspace and follow PPE guidelines at all times
Report accidents, near misses, or equipment issues promptly
Operate safely and efficiently in a secure environment, following all security and handover procedures
Assist with stock control, ordering, and food storage as per military protocols
Deliver catering support across the site, including on the hot plate and live cooking stations
Carry out other reasonable tasks as directed by management
What you bring:
Essential:
Previous experience in a catering or food service role within a service industry
Recognised catering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds 706/1 & 2, BSc in Catering)
Knowledge of food safety and health regulations
CIEH Level 2 in Food Safety or equivalent
Attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards under pressure
Desirable:
Previous experience in a military or secure site environment
IOSH qualification or equivalent
Experience in a customer-facing role
Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
