As a Retail Assistant you'll keep day to day business ticking over by serving a range of products in our convenience store, including alcohol and tobacco, coffee, hot food and make sure our store runs smoothly.

A few things about you 

We are looking for somebody who is enthusiastic about delivering the best customer service, will communicate confidently with customers and will be a team player.  

Experience working in a similar industry would be great, but generally customer service and store handling experience will tick the box! 

Sodexo embeds a strong safety culture in everything we do. There will be company procedures to follow alongside our Health & Safety practises so it is vital that you will champion this.

Site security clearance is required for this role. 

Role Responsibility

  • To operate the till systems as per training received
  • To fill in appropriate paperwork and cashing up of tills at the beginning and end of each shift
  • To maintain the correct stock levels on the shop and replenish stock on shelves
  • To offer excellent customer service to all consumers
  • To clean shop shelving, refrigeration and counters as needed to ensure that the  shop maintains the highest standard of cleanliness at all times
  • To manage incoming deliveries and ensure all correct stock is received and appropriately stored
  • To rotate all stock and ensure that no out of date stock is on shelves
  • To be able to work as a member of a team or alone as working hours dictate
  •  

    • To attend any training courses as directed by the Catering, Retail & Leisure Manager.
    • To assist in the day-to-day running of the Bar/Café
    • To assist/complete stock takes, layouts, re-stocking and promotions etc
    • To be fully conversant with stock rotation
    • To be able to use all service equipment
    • Be fully trained in food service/delivery of bar snacks and from the cold counter
    • To prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including draught ales, spirits, mixers, cocktails and milk drinks.
    • Be responsible for the taking of monies, cashier and floats and be able to use automated till
    • Be responsible for ordering with suppliers/check delivery notes
    • Be flexible in all aspects of working rosters from in line with Scheduled contracted hours including  weekends
    • Be fully conversant with Company policy and procedures and legal requirements
    • To work as part of a team with both front and rear of house staff
    • To adhere to strict deadlines as standard operating procedures
    • To ensure security of cash/cheques and documentation (e.g. till readings etc)
    • To develop ones skills/knowledge within the current role of Bar/Café Assistant
    • To maintain cleanliness of bar areas as directed
    • Any other tasks as directed by the Catering, Retail & Leisure Manager.
