Retail Assistant

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for a Retail Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join a world leading food and facilities management company, which can offer unrivalled opportunities for career progression

This  is a fixed term role covering maternity leave until September 2021.

This position is predominantly based in the hospital convenience store providing a vitial service to staff and visitors.

Role Responsibility

Specific duties will include but may not be limited to all the following

  • Counter service of all retail service areas including food outlets, ensuring adherence to portion control instructions
  • To present the retail shop in a professional manor.
  • Temperature monitoring and recording where required
  • Restocking all products using stock rotation methods
  • To ensure accurate recording of stock when required (stock taking / ordering).
  • Use of computers and ordering software when required.
  • Operating the morning bun run as required
  • Operation of cash registers and security of monies within the retail areas
  • Clearing tables and ensuring a hygienic eating area
  • Carry out all routine cleaning duties in compliance with the Cleaning schedules.
  • Ensuring that all drinks dispensing machines (costa express, smoking beans) are ready for operational; use and faults are reported in a timely manner to relevant persons.
  • Use and care of approved cleaning material and equipment always in accordance with the operator instructions.
  • Ensure that all equipment and materials are used and stored safely in compliance with COSHH regulations.
  • Maintenance of high standards of cleaning throughout the area of allocation following correct procedures.
  • To ensure that all retail areas are kept to a clean hygienic standard, in line with company and client requirements and expectations.
  • To attend and participate in team meetings when required.
  • The employees will participate in the required company and trust training programme.
  • To assist new starters inductions on the “buddy” programmed.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Retail background
  • Previous experience
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to comply with service requirements in line with client policies at all times.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety legislation
  • Undertake training as and when required.
  • High standards of personal hygiene

 

Desirable

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
