Relief Chef Manager

Job Introduction

As a Relief Chef Manager for Sodexo at Priory Hospitals nationwide, you are also a natural leader and a food safety expert. Your passion for food and organizational excellence will lead entire food and beverage productions. You’ll lead teams who pride themselves on delivering a high-quality service to patients and staff 365 days a year. This is a hands-on chef management role, and you will get involved in the day-to-day kitchen duties; be prepared and happy to get involved onsite wherever we need you!

The successful candidate will report in to and provide support to our Regional Manager. 

We are seeking a highly motivated and self-sufficient individual who can comfortably work under pressure within a fast-paced mental healthcare environment. You will be a highly experienced Chef who is excited about the prospect of UK travel and the challenge of practising your skills in ever changing environments.  You will have experience of leading kitchen teams and demonstrable experience of budget management.

Main Responsibilities

What you'll do:

 

  • Have full working knowledge of the areas within the hospital which are covered by the Patient Dining services.
  • Managing a team of Patient Dining employees, assessing workload schedules, and allocating resource as required
  • Overseeing as the line manager the Patient Dining at The Priory sites 
  • Management of the sites labour KRONOS system is fully functional to the business needs.
  • Ensure all staff maintain and deliver a quality service according to set work schedules and procedures.
  • Responsible for liaising with dietary specialists to further enhance the patient dining offer.
  • Responsible for the ordering of stock as required. 
  • Responsible for compliance on food and H&S legislation, 
  • Ensure achievement of high levels of client and patient satisfaction and monitor these on regular basis. 
  • Responsible for visual audits and ensuring maintenance takes place after liaison with site Facilities Manager
  • Responsible for managing staff within area of responsibility.

The Ideal Candidate

What you bring

 

  • Flexible and mobile to work at a variety of locations, nationwide: often assignment will be at short notice and need to stay away from home for an extended period (over 1 week).
  • Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle.
  • Proven experience of leading a team within a comparable service environment, Healthcare experience desirable but not essential 
  • Financial awareness and understanding - cost control, revenues & margin within a Catering service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, colleagues, clients.
  • Ability to work independently, flexibly, and professionally – dealing with stressful and changeable situations.
  • Experience of delivering relevant training, using company guidelines
  • Understanding of relevant Health and Safety, Employment, and other legislative requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to standards
  • Proven IT skills, ability to demonstrate working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations with a flexible approach to the role.
  • Analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions.
