Programmes Facilitator
Job Introduction
HMP Forest Bank are recruiting for a Programmes Facilitator to deliver an accredited programmes to residents in order to support lifestyle changes and rehabilitation. To be successful in this role, you must be confident in delivering group sessions to offenders and have excellent report writing skills.
HMP Forest Bank serves the courts of Greater Manchester and maintains strong links to the local community with a focus on resettlement. We aim to deliver quality of life services and support people to change their lives for the better.
Opportunities for learning and developing work-ready skills are on offer for all who come into custody, but our commitment to reducing reoffending in local communities does not end at the prison gate. We support people released from custody through innovative partnerships in substance misuse services in Bury and Oldham, working with people to maintain recovery and lead law-abiding lives.
As well as the 16 residential units on site, there is a healthcare centre, gym, library, workshop complex, visits hall, chaplaincy and kitchen. The prison’s capacity stands at 1,460, holding adult men both on remand or sentenced and young prisoners between the ages of 18-21 years.

Role Responsibility
- Attend and successfully complete the accredited Facilitator training prior to programme delivery.
- Gain a sound knowledge and understanding of the programme ethos and content.
- Have the ability to effectively explain the underlying principles, aims and objectives of the programme to other staff and course participants.
- Deliver the programme as prescribed in the programme manual, as well as support and guide participants in achieving learning points and completing the programme.
- Manage the group in such a way as to enable all the participants to learn.
- Carry out the assessment of potential participants, identifying suitability for engagement in the programme.
- Act as a Key Worker to a maximum of four participants per course and provide regular key-work sessions a minimum of one per week during the course.
The Ideal Candidate
- Confident in delivering group sessions to offenders
- The skills to challenge different attitudes and beliefs linked to offending behaviour
- A good level of experience in report writing / IT skills
- Good interpersonal skills and have an Empathic approach.
- Good planning and organisational skills
- Have a keen interest in working within the criminal justice sector and a passion to promote and encourage change
