Job Introduction
We currently have opportunities for Band 3 Probation Services Officers to join our teams across Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire & Hertfordshire.
This is a varied role that will involve working within community payback, offender management and programmes.
BeNCH CRC have one principle task which is to reduce reoffending and make our communities safer. As a Probation service officer it will be your job to make sure Service Users are well supported throughout their sentence or licence.
Sodexo Justice Services delivers custodial and community rehabilitation services that challenge offending behaviour, protect the public and offer individuals the opportunity to change their lives for the better. We deliver the total operation of five prisons within England, Scotland and Wales and own six Community Rehabilitation Companies in partnership with crime reduction charity NACRO.
DBS and MOJ clearance will be required for this position.
Role Responsibility
As a Probation Service Officer, you will work directly with service users - managing, supervising and enforcing Court Orders and post custody licence periods. You will assess the risk service users pose to the public, identify their needs to achieve community reintegration, monitor their progress and help them to achieve successful completion of court orders and post custodial supervision periods.
The Ideal Candidate
The ability to form constructive, appropriate relationships and motivate people to change, often in the face of setbacks, is critical. The work also involves producing a range of documentation to a high standard and liaison with specialist agencies. You will coordinate activities with other functions and agencies, who are delivering work to reduce service users re-offending.
There is an expectation that operational staff work some evenings and weekends to enable offenders to be supervised without jeopardising their employment.
You will be required to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and an ability to resolve complex problems. Experience of working with service users is beneficial, along with the ability to be assertive when necessary and be resilient when faced with challenging behaviour and competing demands.
IT skills are essential, as the successful candidates will use a range of IT packages to keep records, make assessments and manage risk.
