The primary function of the Prison Employment Lead (PEL) is to lead on the construction of an end-to-end Prison Employment pathway, which starts to promote the very real prospect of employment on release to prisoners from the beginning of their journey through the establishment. The successful candidate will engage with stakeholders within the prison to establish a system that identifies work ready prisoners to support prisoners to achieve work readiness. As part of the role you will also need to promote employment, education, and skills training opportunities to prisoners upon arrival at the prison. You will be working closely with the prisoners. The post holder will have line management responsibilities for the Business Admin for I.D and Bank Accounts.

Salary: £40,196.22 per annum

Working hours: 37.5 with a regular Mon-Fri Pattern

Main Responsibilities: 

• The post holder will have line management responsibilities for the Business Admin for I.D and Bank Accounts.
• You will also work closely with the prison staff and stakeholders to match work ready candidates to job opportunities brokered. 
• Daily you will be tracking any vacancies as part of central reporting.
• Work in partnership with the Prison’s Strategic Employment Advisory Boards to improve systems that support prisoners to develop employability, ensuring they meet commercial needs/standards of employers. 
• Liaise with COM to ensure prison leavers who require further support on release are signposted to Education, Training and Employment CRS who can continue to support them on their journey towards meaningful, sustained employment.
• You will be working closely with prisoners to support them to be ready for work.

The Ideal Candidate: 

• Must have the ability to build relationships and the experience of working with senior officials.
• The experience of working across stakeholder groups and Other Government Departments and excellent influencing skills, showing the ability to deal effectively with conflict and deliver objectives. 
• The ability to manage people is a must as the successful candidate for this role will have line management responsibilities. 
• Communicating effectively is highly desirable. 
• We are looking for someone who has a strong team building, working skills, people person and strong personality.
• We are looking for someone who has experience of setting goals and achieving targets. 
• Knowledge and understanding of the prison environment. 
• Ability to work in partnership with NFN Managers, communicating strategy and priorities to providers and stakeholders.
• Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
