Portering and Waste Manager
Job Introduction
Sodexo Health and Care are seeking a Portering and Waste Manager professional to join our team at Queens Hospital Romford as our Portering and Waste Manager.
You will be responsible for managing a high quality, timely, and responsive portering services to meet the needs of the wards and departments. The ideal candidate will also ensure that services meet contract obligations, KPI's and agreed Trust and company policies and procedures.
As a Portering and Waste Manager, you will be responsible for reviewing and planning service improvements in a demanding NHS environment to ensure improved services, whilst managing costs.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage efficient and customer focused portering services within the agreed budget.
- Maintain services that exceed the level of performance required of the contractual quality performance regimes, to eliminate the risk of financial penalties.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with patients, relatives and Trust staff
- Adopt a team approach and participate fully with colleagues in the delivery and development of efficient integrated services, irrespective of discipline
- Lead and motivate a large diverse workforce.
- Ensure the correct use of labour, materials and equipment.
- Take a pro-active approach to health and safety, minimising risk and empowering the team to improve the environment
- Build and maintain effective relationships with staff, clients and other departmental supervisors.
- Motivate staff through good communications, regular team huddles, team meetings & individual contact, progressing and feeding back to the Deputy Business Director on any issues raised, follow up on these and ensuring any necessary actions are taken.
- Ensure appropriate remedial action in areas that do not meet the required standards is carried out in a timely manner
- Undertake weekly monitoring of quality control systems for the portering service through appropriate IT systems as instructed.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
To succeed in this role, you must have experience in managing a portering service and be familiar with Health and Safety and Environmental Legislation. The ability to meet deadlines, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders is also essential.
You will also have:
- Proven experience of managing a complex service with a diverse workforce in a customer/patient service environment
- Proven experience of managing a successful P&L account
- A good team member with proven ability to lead, motivate, inspire and support diverse teams
- An effective communicator (both verbal and written)
- Flexibility to take part in a callout service one week in eight
