About the role:
Sodexo are seeking a Plumber to work at one of our prestigious sites based in Central London, you will be responsible for carrying out planned, reactive, and preventative plumbing maintenance across client sites to ensure compliance, safety, and operational excellence. You will ensure that all plumbing and associated mechanical systems are maintained to high standards, in line with Sodexo policies, UKregulations, and client requirements.
Thisrole requires strong technical skills, customer service focus, and commitmentto health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM), repairs, and installation of plumbing systems including hot/cold-water services, sanitation, and heating systems.
- Diagnose and rectify faults across domestic, commercial, and mechanical plumbing systems.
- Carry out maintenance and testing of unvented hot water systems, pumps, valves, and backflow prevention devices.
- Ensure compliance with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 and Building Regulations Part G.
- Support the wider maintenance team with multi-skilled tasks as required (e.g., basic HVAC or mechanical duties).
- Maintain accurate documentation, including service reports, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Work in accordance with Sodexo’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) standards.
- Participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support when needed.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and site teams to deliver excellent customer service.
- Proactively identify energy and water efficiency opportunities to support sustainability goals.
Qualifications &Requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Plumbing and Heating (City & Guilds or EAL)
- Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) Certification
- Unvented Hot Water Systems (G3) Certificate
- Full UK Driving Licence
- CSCS Card (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable / Advantageous:
- Gas Safe Registration (if working on gas appliances or heating systems)
- Legionella Awareness Training (L8 / ACOP)
- Asbestos Awareness and Manual Handling training
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Maximo or Planon
- First Aid and IOSH Working Safely qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a qualified plumber in a facilities management, commercial, or public sector environment.
- Proven experience maintaining plumbing and mechanical systems in settings such as hospitals, schools, defence sites, or corporate buildings.
- Strong understanding of UK building services standards and compliance requirements.
