As a Patient Catering Manager with Sodexo, you are also a nutrition advocate, and quality of life improver. Working at Hereford County Hospital you play an important role in providing prompt meal services, brightening the day of those in patient care and making a positive impact in their daily lives.

In this exciting management role, your focus will be on the responsibility for the provision of patient feeding at Hereford Hospital, ensuring the standard of food and production throughout the service is maintained for patients. Particular emphasis will be based on food quality and monitoring of patient catering at ward level.

You will be regularly visible on wards, ensuring meal observations are carried out. We are therefore seeking an experienced people manager and excellent communicator who can confidently liaise with Trust ward staff and management teams whilst managing your own large team.

Main Responsibilities

What you'll do:

Ensure all staff are effectively employed and developed to meet the needs of the business.
To work with the host team to effectively manage the meal service at ward level ensuring that agreed service specifications are being met.
Manage the day-to-day operations in the Pick & Pack and Host service at ward level.
Work effectively to control the provision of foods to the wards and maintain stock levels to meet Sodexo guidelines.
To ensure that a full monthly stock take in patient feeding carried out in line with the company trading calendar.
To ensure all departmental financial targets are met in line with annual budgets and forecasts.
Ensure that extremely high standards of food preparation are in line with the strict hygiene procedure.
To ensure patient menus are compiled efficiently, ensuring wastage and ordering are kept to a minimum.
To ensure that all staff are trained in all relevant Food Safety and Health Safety legislation company and Trust policy and procedures.

The Ideal Candidate

What you bring

Proven experience of leading a team within a service environment
Proven experience of managing operations within a catering service preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and line manager.
Experience of delivering relevant training, using company guidelines
Understanding of relevant Health & Safety, Employment and other legislative requirements
Experience of implementation and adherence to HACCP
Strong attention to detail and adherence to standards
Proven IT skills
Ability to deal with stressful situations with a flexible approach to the role.
Analyse problems, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions.
