Offshore Floor Layer (Ad-Hoc)
Job Introduction
We are looking for an experienced Offshore Floor Layer to join our Ad-Hoc pool to undertake offshore surveys in order to identify any flooring issues, develop scope of works, material take-offs, tools and consumables required to undertake works; to undertake a variety of flooring works offshore to various areas within the living quarters – i.e., galleys, mess halls, cabins, wet rooms, corridors, offices and communal/recreation areas; and who will ensure that all flooring works are undertaken to a high quality and carried out in a safe and compliant manner.
Role Responsibility
- Undertaking offshore surveys and be able to identify any issues with common flooring types such as vinyl, ceramic tiles, screed systems and resin/epoxy systems
- Taking-off materials required as part of any survey and knowledge of common flooring manufacturers products and materials for use offshore
- Assisting the warehouse and logistics team with identifying appropriate tools, materials and consumables for associated works offshore
- Uplifting existing flooring finishes, inclusive of deck screeds where required
- Applying of primer or rust inhibitor to existing decks where required
- Laying of deck screeds and self-levelling screeds
- Fitting of vinyl flooring – inclusive of application of vinyl adhesive, coved upstands and associated welding
- Fitting of luxury vinyl flooring tiles – inclusive of application of LVT adhesive and sealer
- Fitting of carpet tiles – inclusive of application of carpet tile adhesive or tackifier
- Installation of ceramic tiles – inclusive of application of tile adhesive, tiled upstands and grouting
- Laying of resin / epoxy flooring – inclusive of application of non-slip coating and sealer
- Fitting of various flooring types to stairwells – inclusive of installation of stair nosings and trims
- Ability to undertake any flooring repairs as deemed necessary
- Fitting of floor skirtings – inclusive of sit-on, coved and tiled
- Installing Altro Whiterock hygienic wall cladding
- Assisting of trades as required
The Ideal Candidate
- Practical trades skills, including working knowledge of offshore compliance and construction standards best practice
- Confident and with an ability to work unsupervised and work on own initiative
- Demonstrate commitment to working safely at all times
- IT literate with experience of using Microsoft Office applications (for the purposes of survey and trip reports)
- Ability to self-manage and self-plan workload to meet set deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
- Ability to work with other team members/disciplines and in a multi-cultural environment
- Has a desire to learn and develop within the role
- Practical experience of working with safe systems of work and following procedures
Package Description
- £250 - £300 per day depending on experience
- 12 hours per day/ 7days per week (whilst offshore at client site)
- Offshore trips of up to 21 days
