The Clinical Governance Lead makes a meaningful contribution towards enhancing quality of life for the Clients of Prestige Nursing & Care, by the driving of continuous company-wide best practice of nursing and nurse led care delivery through visible frontline leadership, training, competency and clinical service improvement activity.
We are seeking a dynamic and independent clinical professional with solid experience within the healthcare sector and a flexible, can-do attitude to join us as a National Clinical Practice Lead.
As National Clinical Practice Lead you will ensure visible frontline clinical leadership to support safe clinical practice, high standards of education and training, change management and embed service improvement across nursing and nurse led care delivery.
As a leading strategic focus for the clinical team this is a role with plenty of scope to contribute to the success of the business.
This position requires occasional national travel across the branch network and frequent visits to head office based in Epsom, Surrey.

Role Responsibility
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Practice:
- Ensure visible frontline clinical leadership to support safe clinical practice, change management and embed service improvement across nursing and nurse led care delivery.
- Manage a small team of regional nurses
- Lead on the dissemination of clinical best practice, policy and procedure.
- Maintain oversight of clinical service improvement activity, aligned to wider quality assurance processes to make recommendations for ensuring high quality care and clinical excellence.
- Implement and monitor standards of nursing and nurse led care across PNC.
- Contribute to audit activity as required to monitor service improvement and performance.
- Provide professional and clinical support to colleagues within their area of specialism.
- Contribute to the review and roll out of clinical policy and procedure.
- Contribute to regular reporting for quality, governance and safety agendas.
- Communicate complicated and sensitive information to clients, their carers and other professionals.
- Celebrate high performing teams that demonstrate commitment and empowerment in line with clear principles, values and ways of working.
Education and Development:
- Coordinate the training and development of registered nurses within PNC.
- Work with the Clinical Governance Lead, National Clinical Leads and training department to develop and roll out appropriate nurse training and CPD opportunities.
- Ensure all clinical training content (delegated healthcare tasks) for frontline care delivery is up to date, relevant and of a high quality.
- Contribute to training needs analysis and response to training needs across PNC.
- Identify own training needs through undertaking development reviews.
- Maintain an effective and Valid NMC registration through fulfilling PREP requirements.
- Apply expert knowledge and work within professional guidelines.
- Create a positive learning environment where skills and knowledge can be shared using a variety of media to foster a culture of continuous improvement and development in clinical practice.
Service Development:
- Contribute to root cause analysis for clinical incidents and provide recommendations for improvement and best practice, taking responsibility for embedding lessons learnt.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the PNC nursing strategy.
- Lead on the implementation of agreed strategies, policy and procedure in order to manage risk appropriately and provide evaluation and feedback on effectiveness as part of clinical service improvement activity.
- Contribute to investigation of service complaints and untoward incidents in line with policy as required.
- Support and assist on service improvement projects that deliver on organisational objectives based on client feedback and best practice.
- Ensure key learning from local best practice initiatives is shared across the organisation.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Occasionally support with the day-to-day responsibilities of the team when required
- Be a champion for internal customer service

The Ideal Candidate
KEY ATTRIBUTES/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- RGN/RMN/RNC with active NMC registration.
- Teaching qualification
- Ability to develop strong working relationships to facilitate an open and honest learning culture.
- IT literate with a sound grasp of Excel and other data analysis tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – able to analyse, present and explain complex information in an accessible format.
- Able to demonstrate good knowledge of CQC/Care Inspectorate, Health and Social Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation and sector best practice.
- Able to implement and monitor clinical quality standards & measures through audit.
- Planning & implementing service improvement activity based on the result of audits.
- Ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues, client’s, their families and other stakeholders.
- Experience of managing staff
- Ability to identify, and get support for, service improvement measures with the ability to influence and assist staff to deliver change.
- Ability to work as part of a team to develop solutions to complex problems, coming to reasoned decisions with comprehensive recommendations.
- Highly organised and able to work to conflicting and challenging deadlines, supported by an ability to plan and prioritise resources.
- Excellent planning, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Previous experience in a clinical leadership role within social care.
- Teaching and assessing nursing and care staff to ensure the safe delivery of care.
- Previous experience of quality management and service improvement activities within health and social care.
- A proven track record of successful quality assurance and performance monitoring.
- The role covers the UK and will include frequent national travel.
