Job Introduction

We are recruiting a Multi Skilled Services Engineer to join our team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of critical hospital services by delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and building systems.
You’ll bring strong mechanical expertise (HVAC, chillers, boilers, plumbing) alongside a flexible, multi-skilled approach to keep the hospital’s infrastructure running reliably and safely.

What You’ll Do:
Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across mechanical, electrical, and building services.
Work on a wide range of systems including HVAC, chillers, boilers, plumbing, fire alarms, lifts, generators, and BMS.
Respond to emergencies promptly, minimising downtime and ensuring patient safety at all times.
Take the lead on specific systems/plant as delegated, ensuring safe and compliant operation.
Support colleagues, apprentices, and contractors, sharing technical knowledge and contributing to a strong team culture.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activity in line with statutory and contractual requirements.

What You Bring:
Time-served engineer with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in building services or a similar environment (healthcare desirable).
Qualified in Mechanical & Electrical Building Services (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, and plumbing.
Ability to multi-task across mechanical, electrical, and general building disciplines.
Organised, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills with a customer-first mindset.
Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations and statutory compliance.
Desirable:
HNC/HND in Engineering or Building Services.
Knowledge of HTMs (Health Technical Memorandums).
Experience using CAFM/PDA systems.
Membership of a professional body (IET, CIBSE, IHEEM, CIPHE etc.).
