Maintenance Technician

Job Introduction

As a Maintenance Technician at Sodexo in Shetland you will be joining part of our Maintenance team on a unique site.  Your joinery and plumbing skills will ensure you are our go - to person

What you’ll do: 

  • Be a vital part of the maintenance operations
  • Provide excellent customer service with a dedicated and helpful approach 
  • Carry out reactive maintenance to include plumbing and joinery work
  • Comply with all Company and Client policies and procedures, and statutory regulations, including health and safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire, COSHH. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards in your workplace
  • Actively champion a safe and healthy environment

What you bring: 

  • A can-do attitude and flexible approach to working 
  • Excellent attention to detail, plus good communication skills    
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be ideal
  • General knowledge of health and safety procedures
  • Diagnose faults and perform maintenance tasks on water & sanitation systems, fixtures, and building finishes.
  • Undertake basic plumbing, carpentry, painting & decorating tasks to ensure the site's vitality.
  • Oversee contractor activities, ensuring they align with site rules.
  • Pinpoint life cycle issues, providing innovative recommendations.
  • May be required to drive the company vehicle from time to time as directed by the supervisor / Manager.
  • May be required to work outside of regular shift patterns.
  • Will be required to work on new systems, undertake training, learn new techniques and legislation as required and pass on knowledge to others.
  • Will be required to use all relevant tools and equipment within their specific field.
  • Ability to keep work pace and meet deadlines, along with good organisation skills
  • Great communication skills, strong teamwork, and a positive attitude 
  • Capable of working as part of a team or unsupervised, and of remaining calm under pressure
  • SVQ Level 3 carpentry and joinery and SVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating preferred

Package Description

Exciting opportunity for a qualified Maintenance Technician to join our team at Sella Ness on the beautiful Shetland Islands! 

*****Included is accommodation and all meals whilst working on the Shetland Island and also transportation from Aberdeen is also included*****

  • 73.5 Hours per week, 3 weeks on 3 weeks off 
  • £15.50 per hour 
  • Holiday pay included 
  • Onsite Gym

The successful applicant must at least hold craft/trade training, a City and Guilds qualification, or an equivalent apprenticeship. NVQ Level SVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating or Carpentry and Joinery
