Are you the go-to person, the one who answers the questions, with the knowledge of how to keep the facilities running like clockwork?

At Sodexo, our facilities management professionals are at the heart of what we do and we are looking to recruit a Joiner – Maintenance Craftsperson to support the operation within the hospital estate at location

As a joiner you’ll carry out a planned maintenance programme completing tasks within the allotted programme window, as well as providing a reactive service always ensuring to develop good working relationships with our clinical and non-clinical colleagues.

You’ll be involved in life cycle replacement of the building fabric; in addition, you’ll support the smooth running of our operation providing flexibility as necessary to cover out of hours emergency works. 

With good use of IT systems, you will monitor data and other management reporting systems.

A few things about you

We are looking for a joiner, if you have completed a formal craft apprenticeship in relevant trade or hold City & Guilds Craft Certificate discipline within a trade experience, we would love to hear from you!

You must be able to work unsupervised and be able to prioritise work tasks whilst remaining calm under pressure! You must be a strong team player with great communication skills, who enjoys working as part of a team and developing apprentices.

You’ll be confident in your ability to Interpret and work from instruction, drawings and specifications appropriate to the building trade without supervision.

As Sodexo embeds a strong Safety culture in everything we do, there will be procedures, site specific guidelines / requirements and regulations to follow such so it is vital that you have a good understand of Health and Safety at Work regulation and previous experience adhering to set engineering standards.  

 

Role Responsibility

  • Will have day to day responsibility for responding to issued dockets and for correctly filling in such dockets prior to hand in.
  • Will undertake installation / fabrication work and repair work as required.
  • Will undertake all necessary benchwork tasks.
  • Will work to health and safety requirements and will have full working knowledge of the safe working practices in the use of woodworking machinery.
  • Will undertake all necessary repairs and PPMs of a statutory and non statutory nature and advise the supervisor / chargehand on remedial action required.
  • Will understand electrical, mechanical, and building systems in a healthcare environment.
  • Will be required to work on new systems and undertake training on new techniques and legislation as required and pass on knowledge to others.
  • Will be required to use all relevant tools and equipment within their specific field.
  • Will undertake necessary reglazing tasks as required.
  • Will be required to undertake on call duties in a rosta.
  • May be required to use access equipment for working at heights.
  • May be required to work alone.
  • May be required to drive the company vehicle from time to time as directed by the supervisor / chargehand.
  • To undertake all additional duties and responsibilities as instructed by senior management and may be required to work on other Sodexo contracts as directed by his manager.
  • Assist the Trust in reducing healthcare associated infections by being familiar with the Trust’s Hand Decontamination Policy, attend mandatory induction training and be always compliance with all hand hygiene standards.
  • You are responsible for your own Health and Safety and that of your colleagues.
