Maintenance Handyman/Janitor
Job Introduction
Are you the go-to person, the one who answers the questions, with the know of how to keep the facilities running like clockwork? At Sodexo, our facilities management professionals are at the heart of what we do, and we are looking for a Maintenance handyman/janitor to join us!
This position is worked on a shift basis, earlies, middles and lates, a Beath High school in Cowdenbeath, Fife. We will provide all the training and support to enable the successful candidate to feel confident in all aspects of the facilities management duties at our sites. We will provide you with uniform including safety shoes, you will be working in a bright and modern working environment
Role Responsibility
You’ll focus on carrying out security patrols ensuring that we provide a safe and secure environment for our students, teachers and visitors, that is always fit for purpose!
No day will be the same, you’ll be on the go monitoring the building management system (BMS), responding to any issues, completing general maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs. You will also complete tasks such as fire alarm testing, light bulb and tube changing and recording any issues identified during your working day.
You will be working in conjunction with a team of cleaning operatives making sure that we provide a high-quality cleaning service, always ensuring that all areas of the school are clean and serviceable!
The Ideal Candidate
With a background in general building services, you’ll be skilled in general maintenance, cleaning and security.
As Sodexo embeds a strong Safety culture in everything we do, there will be procedures, site specific guidelines / requirements and regulations to follow, so it is vital that you have a good understand of Health and Safety at Work regulations and previous experience adhering to standards.

You must be able to work unsupervised and be able to prioritise work tasks whilst remaining calm under pressure.
You will need to be a keen learner, as you will have continuous training opportunities throughout your career.

Package Description
The starting salary is £20,342.40 per annum; this rate is currently under review, there is also a requirement for overtime at weekends including a call out/standby fee, these will be discussed at the interview stage.
