Building Maintenance Electrician

Job Introduction

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Building Maintenance Electrician to join our dynamic team. Based at the Sella Ness Industrial Estate, Sullom Voe, Shetland ZE2 9QR, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and will play a crucial role in ensuring our facilities are safe, fully operational, and maintained to a high standard. What you’ll do: 

  • Perform preventive and reactive electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Install and maintain electrical systems and equipment in accordance with safety standards (BS 7671).
  • Carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and general building maintenance duties such as plumbing and joinery.
  • Ensure the external grounds and facilities are maintained to a high standard.
  • Supervise specialist subcontractors when necessary and respond to emergency maintenance requests.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and ensure accurate documentation of all work completed.

What you bring: 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • 8th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
  • Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
  • Recognised Electrical Modern Apprenticeship.
  • Emergency First Aid at Work.
  • Portable Appliance Testing, City & Guilds 2377 or equivalent.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in plumbing, joinery, or general maintenance.
  • Full, clean UK driving license.
  • Ability to read drawings, technical manuals, schematics, and guidance.
  • Proven experience in electrical, plumbing, joinery, and general building maintenance.
  • Familiarity with working in a facilities management or multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Practical experience of working with safe systems of work, permit to work and following procedures.

Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities.
  • IT literate with experience of Microsoft Office applications and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
