As Maintenance ­­­­Assistant at Sodexo, you will be the go-to person, the one with the answers to everyone's questions, and the one who knows how to keep the facilities operating smoothly. You will be the specialist who will provide technical advice and support for the maintenance of equipment, building fabric, and utility services across the Manchester Foundation Trust Hospital estate. What You’ll Do:

  • Perform basic tasks like replacing washers, repairing leaks, cleaning drains, and replacing lamps and tubes.
  • Fix minor electrical items, replace door handles, signs, and assist with small repairs like fitting plug tops.
  • Clean light fittings, plant rooms, workshops, and machinery.
  • Service and repair ward toasters and TVs (pick up, repair, and return to wards if needed).
  • Assist in emergencies and analyze faults, reporting to appropriate trades
  • Organize and manage daily tasks and responsibilities.
  • Undertake painting, decorating, and high-level cleaning (e.g., brackets and overhangs).
  • Assist in the movement of materials and equipment.
  • Provide advice and demonstrate duties to new starters.
  • Process timesheets and carry a bleep for emergencies.
  • Ensure safe use and maintenance of equipment, adhering to hospital policies.
  • Undertake surveys, audits, and check new equipment.
  • Exchange routine information with colleagues and assist in providing updates on work progress.

What You Bring:

  • A full, clean driving licence
  • Previous appropriate working experience or training in skill development, including the safe use of tools and equipment.
  • able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of workshop safety practices
  • Must be able to work effectively with the minimum of supervision
  • Good communication skills and the ability to deal with the exposure to emotional conditions
