Loading Bay Team Leader

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for a dedicated and hard working Loading Bay Team Leader to support the Mail & Distribution Manager in providing and overseeing an excellent back of house delivery/porter service, delivering the highest standards of customer service and fulfilling the business requirements.   This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join a world leading food and facilities management company, which can offer unrivalled opportunities for career progression.

Role Responsibility

  • To act as the first point of contact for the Back of House Team and all Loading Bay users
  • To provide support and guidance and resolution all requests and queries to the Loading Bay and Basement areas
  • If unable to resolve any requests and queries refer to the Logistics Manager
  • Provide daily reports on Back of House operations
  • To ensure the smooth running of deliveries and collections for Back of House daily requirements of customers / service providers
  • To ensure all incoming deliveries are cleared from the Loading Bay within 20 minutes (as per the unload / hold agreement), reporting anomalies to the Logistics Manager
  • To oversee and ensure deliveries are transported to respective stores within the basement as requested by other business partners
  • To ensure the Loading Bay is kept clean and tidy, tidiness must comply to the standards laid down within the Health & Safety guidelines
  • To ensure all Back of House checklists are filled out and filed on a daily basis
  • To review and action any issues on the nightly check-sheets each morning
  • To ensure all Clients are advised of the arrival of all deliveries
  • To ensure Health & Safety Procedures are adhered to i.e. Manual Handing Guidelines
  • To ensure that all equipment is in working order and is used in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines
  • To keep in contact with equipment suppliers, organising services and ordering PPE, parts etc.
  • To meet monthly with the Logistics Manager to keep up to date with Health & Safety  issues cascading information and new practices to the rest of the team as necessary
  • To attend meetings i.e. Health & Safety, Supervisors etc in the Logistics Managers absence, taking notes and updating him with any relevant information on his return
  • To ensure a prompt response to all customers’ requests is provided by the team at all ties assisting as necessary
  • To prepare a monthly deliveries statistics summary for the Logistics Manager
  • To ensure team awareness of high standard of service levels expected
  • To ensure that the quality of service provided by the Back of House team fully meets the needs of customers and agreed service standards
  • To review training requirements with the Logistics Manager on a monthly basis
  • To monitor the teams punctuality, reliability and personal presentation
  • To assist/oversee any other Back of House or Front of House Logistics tasks as and when required
  • To actively support others, taking on additional responsibility if required to deliver excellent customer service
  • Keep up to date with the Client and events
  • Contribute / assist in championing the need for continuous improvement
  • To be receptive and adaptive in a fast moving environment
  • To assist the Logistics Manager in team appraisal and disciplinary matters

The Ideal Candidate

  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety
  • Forklift Operators Licence (Counterbalance)
  • Clear communication skills
  • Excellent Team Building skills
  • Team Leader/Supervisory experience
  • Confident manner in order to handle and resolve queries with all levels of staff
  • Two year customer service experience
  • Intermediate PC Skills
