Legal Counsel - Employment
Job Introduction
Sodexo is looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister to provide employment law advice and solutions for Sodexo UK&I.
2/3 years qualification is desirable, and in-house experience preferable (but we would also consider candidates with experience in private practice).
This is a work at home role, and occasional travel to Salford office (once per month) is preferable.
Role Responsibility
Providing effective legal advice and assistance on all areas of employment law risk as required by the Segments / Functions supported
Advise on HR projects and policies, Employment Tribunal claims, employment terms and conditions, settlement agreements, pensions and benefits, TUPE, outsourcing and industrial relations
Advise on collective consultation procedures, works councils, restructuring and redundancies
Train HR and the Segments / Functions on all areas of employment law risk and HR policies
Provide legal advice and assistance on employment law to the other members of the UK&I Legal Department
Help to ensure that business is conducted in accordance with relevant law and Sodexo’s internal governance processes
Instruct external lawyers and manage external legal fees under appropriate supervision
Working collaboratively with all members of the UK&I Legal team
Complying with company policies and Legal Department processes
Monitor and report on the status of Employment Tribunal cases and helpline queries and trends
Participate in projects and initiatives for the UK&I Legal Department and HR function
The Ideal Candidate
ESSENTIAL:
Educated to degree level or equivalent
Qualified solicitor or barrister in the UK or equivalent jurisdiction
Broad knowledge and experience of employment law and practice
Strong skills in negotiation, drafting, legal analysis and problem resolution
Ability to advise on legal and commercial options
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage relationships successfully with Sodexo representatives
DESIRABLE:
Previous in-house legal experience in relevant industry
