HMP Lowdham Grange are recruiting for an Learning and Development Trainer to join their team. As the Learning and Development Trainer you will support the L&D Manager in developing a learning culture within the establishment by coordinating and delivering a range of learning and development activities which are aligned to the business strategy and contractual and legislative requirements. With your strong organisational skills you will plan, organize and deliver initial training courses for staff. Through your ability to build robust working relationships with individuals and departments you will help increase staff engagement in learning and development. You will be resilient and resourceful while working with a diverse workforce of 450+ employees who either work directly with prisoners or support the prison to run effectively

Main Responsibilities
- Work with L&D Manager to ensure all statutory and mandatory training is completed
- Work with L&D Manager to ensure Initial Training Courses (ITCs) are up to date and delivered effectively
- Deliver inhouse created content to ITCs and non-operative inductions
- Support to establishment SMEs during training sessions, e.g., H&S, HR and deliver content when required
- Facilitate upskilling and refresher sessions for existing staff
- Work with the Learner Coach and development team to ensure new PCO’s and OSO's are supported during their initial development programme
- Provide efficient administration services to Learning & Development within Sodexo Justice Services, including maintaining records, dealing with and responding to queries and scheduling SME’s for ITC courses
- Support with delivery of HMPPS packages

The Ideal Candidate
Essential
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Prison Custody Officer in a custodial environment
- Resilient and resourceful
- Strong communication skills and effective listener
- Ability to build robust working relationships with individuals, departments and stakeholders
- Ability to work as part of a team but also independently
- Good facilitation skills
- Able to provide constructive feedback
- Excellent organisational skills
- Flexible with the ability to problem solve and react and adapt to meet the needs of the Prison
- Approachable
- Good IT Skills, including Microsoft software such as Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Desirable
- Training qualification e.g. Level 3 award in education and training or equivalent
- Relevant HMPPS packages instructor training – upskilling will be provided
