Lead Engineer

Join our team and play a key role in delivering excellence and innovation in Hard FM and Technical Facilities Services.
As a Lead Engineer you'll:
- Engineering craftsmen co-ordination
- Planning and scheduling of works via CMMS.
- Liaison with client representatives to deliver planned and reactive works.
- Delivering safe systems of works via permit to work system. Ensure execution of maintenance activities are in accordance with site policies and procedures including health, safety & environmental (HS&E) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
- Checking and authorizing of works, snagging
- Ensure statutory and compliance activities such as Legionella, LEV, F-Gas, LOLER, Lifts and Forklift Trucks (this is not an exhaustive list) are carried out according to current legislation.
- Review risk assessments and method statements
- Obtain quotations for planned and remedial works arising out of service contract visits.
- Financial checking and authorizing, invoices and applications for payment
- Control of service contract execution and Service Provider reports
- Develop engineering and facilities scopes of work / SLA’s.
- Relationship Management – employees / supply chain / customers
- Ensure compliance with GMP/QA and other relevant policies.
- Review of insurance inspection reports for LOLER, Forklift Trucks & Lifts.
- Attend meetings between Sodexo and Client representatives for service contracts. i.e. Legionella, UPS Steering group, fixed wire testing, Effluent sampling, and F-Gas.
- Chair meetings between Sodexo and the Client representatives for service contracts. i.e. Legionella, fixed wire testing.
- Manage the refrigerant databases for AHU’s, A/C units, fridges/ freezers (F-Gas registers)
- Manage the Emergency Lighting PM Database.
What we're looking for:
Essential:
Mechanical / Electrical or I&C background
Minimum GCSE level education
Knowledge of LOLER / PUWER / ACOP L8 / F-Gas regulations / LEV systems
Ability to work without supervision as well as part of a team
Willingness and aptitude to be trained in any skills gap & positive approach to learning in role
Good awareness and understanding of health, safety, and environmental issues
Minimum IOSH Working Safely or equivalent safety accreditation
Good administration skills
Self-motivated and flexible approach to role
Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients, and staff
Good time management and organisational skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Desirable:
HNC / HND in mechanical or electrical engineering
NEBOSH General certificate
Engineering experience and knowledge of a manufacturing plant, preferably pharmaceutical / chemical / industrial
Experience of using a works order planning database, e.g., Maximo
Experience / knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Quality Assurance / ISO
Excellent technical awareness and good overview of M&E building services
Proven experience of issuing permits, writing risk assessments, and HS&E active monitoring
C & G 2391 Test and Inspection of Electrical Installations, BS7671 17 Edition
Supervisory experience and performance management – both staff and contractors
Developing and writing M&E scopes of work and service level agreements (SLAs)
Reviewing existing plant maintenance regimes and instigating improvements and initiatives
Good written skills and capable of producing engineering technical reports
Good customer service skills / client-facing skills
Experience within managing / coordinating service contractors
