Job Introduction

Role Responsibility

  1. To ensure that the Company and Statutory regulations regarding health, safety and hygiene are complied with.
  2. To ensure that the Company’s standards of cleanliness are achieved and maintained.
  3. To maintain the Company’s standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
  4. To maintain the cleanliness of the stores and refrigerator areas.
  5. To ensure that foods and non-food products are correctly put away in rotation.
  6. To undertake any reasonable requests by Management.
  7. To assist with basic food preparation as required.
  8. To assist at special functions, some of which may occasionally occur outside normal working hours.
  9. To always maintain a high standard of dress and behaviour.
  10. To ensure standards within the food offer are maintained
  11. To report any complaint or compliment.
  12. To report any incident of accident, fire, theft, loss, damage and take action as may be appropriate.
  13. To ensure that all aspects of the Food Safety Act 1990 are adhered to.
  14. To attend training sessions and staff meetings.

Christmas Off!     No Split Shifts!      Work only 7 out of 14 days in term time!

Come and join us as a Kitchen Porter in our big and friendly team at the Clifton College site in Bristol in our recently refurbished, well equipped kitchen providing catering services in a 7-day-a-week boarding and day school. Your role involves cleaning catering equipment and fixtures, operating dishwashing equipment, handling of and disposing of waste. There will be some basic food handling tasks as well as manual handling tasks. We do not operate with split shifts, and we close between Christmas and New Year During term time and some school holidays shifts are long (12 hours) but are arranged across a 2 week period working 3 days in the first week and 4 days in the second week, meaning you are working 7 days out of 14.

We also aim during term time to offer every other weekend off. During other school holiday times we generally operate on a Monday to Friday basis where we can. Generally early shifts start at 7am, late shifts typically finish at 8pm.

Paid Overtime is sometimes available to cover absences such as holidays. Flexibility would be required for function work. You will have a great passion for food and team engagement. Access to a workplace apprenticeship is also possible for an individual looking to upskill and develop. Background in school catering and/or a large catering environment would be advantageous but not essential
