Junior Sous Chef

Job Introduction

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Junior Sous Chef to join our catering team here at the Nestle Training Centre. You will be responsible for delivering high quality food and services and to actively contributing toward the development of new food offers and menus, reporting to the Head Chef.

Role Responsibility

  • Comply with all Company & Client policies and statutory regulations relating to Health & Safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and COSHH. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards in your work place.
  • Manage the preparation, production and presentation of food within the section assigned to you as directed by the Head Chef, in line with company standards, ensuring food is served at correct times within the specification for the contract.
  • Ensure that the control of raw materials and portions are to the Company standards and ensure all food is served at the correct temperatures.
  • Participate in any necessary training and team meetings as required to complete job responsibilities to the Company’s and Client’s standards eg. Health & Safety, Food Hygiene.
  • Assist the Head Chef with the planning of costed menu’s and ordering supplies in line with the Company standards.
  • Keep all work areas and surfaces clean and tidy at all times and assist with routine cleaning schedules as required.
  • Assist at service times by serving customers.
  • Assist in loading service counters and to ensure the availability of sufficient supplies as and when directed before and during the service period.
  • Ensure high standards of personal performance, hygiene, appearance and cleanliness at all times.
  • Communicate well and demonstrate a pleasant, polite, efficient, caring and friendly service to customers and clients in all areas of service
  • Work as a team to promote harmonious working relationships within the Sodexo team.
  • Assist at any special ad-hoc functions, some of which may occur outside working hours.
  • Report any customer complaints or compliments and take some remedial action if at all possible.
  • Report immediately any incidents of accident, fire theft, loss, damage, unfit food, or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate.
  • Deputise and take responsibility in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Assist the Business Centre Manager in completing accounts and documentation that are necessary for weekly returns and transmit information at the appointed time.
  • Cover in other areas during periods of holidays and sickness.
  • Comply with Sodexo Company policies/procedures and client site rules and regulations.
  • Carry out any other reasonable task as directed by management.

The right candidate must be flexible around business needs, be highly passionate about food and cooking. You will have a very positive attitude towards your career, work and colleagues and enjoy being a part of a small sized Kitchen brigade. You will show attention to detail at all times and work efficiently to the company standards required as directed by the Head Chef.

  • Relevant experience in a Hotel or simalar catering environment. minimum 5 years.
  • Ability to achieve and set standards and operate to performance criteria, with particular regard to hygiene
  • Ability to work well under pressure

Package Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Junior Sous Chef to join our team.

This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join a world leading food and facilities management company, which can offer unrivalled opportunities for career progression. You will be working in a team of 3 Chefs covering a 5 day week, Mon to Fri. Shift patterns may vary and Overtime is a requirement of this role along with a flexi rota as required. Full training and support given and the successful candidate must be able to work independently within the team and to own initiative once trained.
