Delivering expert joinery services across all wardsand departments within Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, ensuring thehighest standards of craftsmanship, safety, and compliance. Operating within adynamic, multidisciplinary environment, you will play a vital role inmaintaining and enhancing the Trust’s facilities, supporting patient care, andcreating safe, functional, and welcoming spaces. Your work will adhere toSodexo and Trust safety standards and procedures, demonstrating commitment toexcellence, quality, and the wellbeing of both staff and patients.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with comprehensive joinery and estate maintenance services within a healthcare environment, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Carry out reactive repairs, planned maintenance, installations, and minor improvements across clinical and non clinical areas.
  • Hold practical experience and a Level 3 vocational qualification in joinery, carpentry, or a related trade.
  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work from instructions; skilled in manufacturing, repairing, and maintaining joinery and structural elements.
  • Maintain professional conduct and communicate effectively with clinical staff, contractors, and external agencies.
  • Participate in on call duties, responding to emergency repairs outside of normal hours, including overtime work.
  • Follow strict health and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Use communication devices, electronic job systems, for example, CAFM, Maximo, and handheld tools to manage and record work.
  • Work sensitively in patient occupied areas, respecting privacy and dignity while understanding the clinical environment.

 

What You Bring:

  • Include qualifications such as City and Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3, Fire Call Response, Lift Entrapments, Asbestos Awareness, MEWP and IPAF Licenses
  • Familiarity with Building Regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act, BS 7671, Asbestos Regulations, Building Management Systems, and Fire Alarm Systems
  • Experience working within NHS estates, understanding NHS HTMs and HBNs, managing PPM and breakdowns in hospital environments
  • Experience handling reactive environments, working on complex structural and building components, and managing emergencies
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of professionals, a team player, able to build good working relationships
  • Training and awareness in Risk Assessment, Confined Spaces, Manual Handling, and working safely within clinical environments
  • Experience with CAFM systems, estate audits, control procedures, and computer based building management
  • Self motivated, adaptable, problem solver, able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Engagement in ongoing training, maintaining professional standards, and adhering to values of patient first care and excellence
