Health & Safety Manager

Job Introduction

We are looking for a passionate Health & Safety Manager to join our team on a pharmaceutical client account, looking after 9 sites in Cambridge. You should have a proven track record in a SHE role with a strong Food & Catering background.

With very supportive management team on hand this will be an excellent opportunity to professionally grow and develop in the role. We offer a salary up to £45,000, a bonus and a flexible benefits package.

 

Role Responsibility

  • Manage the associated non-conformance (NCR) and Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) tracker and site RAG plans to ensure that contract operations comply with best practice and legislative requirements.
  • Supports Clients and Sodexo teams with investigations, root-causes and implementation of corrective actions where SHE deficiencies are discovered.
  • Supports consistent application and communication of Sodexo compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provides both proactive and reactive support to applicable sites in relation to internal and external audits e.g. Accreditation audits (e.g. SGS), Client Level 2 audits, Regulatory Authorities Audits (e.g. MHRA / FDA) and supplier audits.
  • Support all relevant criteria completed as part of the change control process.
  • Monitor and maintain training and competence to ensure compliance (via matrices or eQMS Training Manager Module as implemented), across applicable sites.
  • Delivery of training for key GxP and SHE related topics.
  • Manage the Level 1 Quality audit schedule for applicable sites.
  • Brand Ambassador and Champion of current industry / Sodexo best practice in relation to all services.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to SHE staff (Sodexo and Client).
  • Develop local SHE Plans ensuring both compliance to the regional Client's Quality Plan and site-specific requirements.
  • Produce monthly reports to regional management teams highlighting successes and hot spots including trending and analysis of KPIs.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Must possess strong analytical skills. The ability to systematically gather information from a variety of sources, analyse information, identify implications of data, draw appropriate conclusions and generate viable alternative solutions to a question or problem.
  • Experience in a food and/or catering environment. Experience and background in auditing.
  • Engaging style in order to successfully deliver SHE training.
  • Experience in auditing.
  • Ability to lead and influence at a strategic level in H&S matters.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (e.g. Chartered membership of IOSH)
  • Good organisational /communication skills (verbal and written) with excellent operations/client relationship management
  • Ability to prioritise, work to tight deadlines, both prescribed and self-imposed
  • Self-motivated and able to motivate others
  • Proven recent experience in a Health and Safety role
  • Track record of success in a similar role in a multi-site 3rd party business
  • Broad commercial experience and business acumen and knowledge of external industry developments / best practice
  • Experience working in a standards/compliance environment

Desirable

  • Commercial awareness and judgement with an understanding of wider implications of their actions
  • Project management experience
  • Membership of professional institutions or  professional bodies.
