Job Title: Health & Safety Manager – Energy & Resources
Location: Home-based (but will involve regular travel)
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8am–5pm, with flexibility)
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum
Requirement: Level 6 Health and Safety Qualification
About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join Sodexo’s Energy & Resources team.
 In this pivotal role, you’ll drive a culture of safety excellence across our contracts - ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, and wellbeing are embedded in everything we do.
You’ll be responsible for delivering Sodexo’s Integrated Management System (IMS), encompassing Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards, and providing expert advice and guidance to operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality legislation, Sodexo policies, and industry best practice.
 - Drive continuous improvement and service excellence across all service delivery platforms.
 - Provide competent safety advice to managers and front-line teams.
 - Build strong, collaborative relationships between operational teams and the HSE function.
 - Promote and embed Sodexo’s Zero Harm Mindset (ZHM) and develop strategies to advance the Safety Maturity Framework.
 - Conduct and oversee audits, inspections, and risk assessments; ensure findings are effectively managed and closed out.
 - Lead and report on the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001.
 - Develop and maintain robust Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) plans for all sites.
 - Support accident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and improvement actions are implemented.
 - Partner with the Social Impact & Sustainability Manager on environmental management plans and sustainability initiatives.
 - Advise managers and employees on all aspects of environmental, health, and safety obligations and best practice.
 - Engage with external stakeholders including the HSE Executive, Environmental Health Officers, and auditors as required.
 - Support the delivery of HSE training and awareness programmes in partnership with the Learning & Development team.
 - Analyse data to identify trends, provide insight, and support proactive risk management.
 - Lead stakeholder engagement across internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
 
About You:
We’re seeking a proactive and confident safety professional who thrives on building trusted relationships and driving real change.
Essential:
- Level 6 Health & Safety Qualification.
 - Minimum 3 years’ experience managing safety within an FM or similar environment.
 - Strong commitment to HSEQ management, with practical experience in a dedicated HSEQ role.
 - NEBOSH Diploma (Level 5+) or equivalent qualification.
 - Level 4 Food Safety qualification (or willingness to achieve within 6 months).
 - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
 - Strong understanding of current legislation, regulations, and standards.
 - Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
 - Willingness to travel to remote sites as required.
 - Able to obtain BPSS and SC security clearance.
 - Operationally focused and self-motivated.
 
Desirable:
- Experience working on Central Government contracts (NEC3).
 - Demonstrated record of continuous improvement achievements.
 - Membership of a professional body (e.g. IOSH, IWFM).
