About the role

At Sodexo, It all starts with the everyday.. and we run and efficient high-quality service! To provide this vital service we have a talented stores and distribution team behind us, and we currently have a vacancy for a Head Stores Person to join our team.

You’ll be the go-to person…the one who will know where everything is and ensures the areas runs efficiently!

You will work as part of a team to ensure that we deliver service excellence across the operation, always ensuring that all goods are received or delivered as required, whilst controlling stock levels. You will ensure Health and Safety regulations and Manual Handling training are followed. You will always ensure areas are maintained and efficiently performing, reporting any faults and non-compliances.

A few things about you 

It’s important to have a positive, approachable attitude as this is a customer facing role with supervisory responsibility. You will need to have strong communication skills with the ability to demonstrate great teamwork.

As Sodexo embeds a strong Safety culture in everything we do, there will be procedures, site specific guidelines / requirements and regulations to follow.

With safety at the heart of what we do, you must have Manual Handling training.

You must be able to follow instructions and also have great computer skills (mainly the Microsoft packages; Word, Excel, Outlook).

You will need to be a keen learner, as you will have continuous training opportunities throughout your career. 

Role Responsibility

  • To support the kitchen management team with inventory. Stock taking and regular stock assessments.
  • Forecast and plan and arrange daily activities within the stores team.
  • Liaise with suppliers to plan and amend issues ie: ingredients not arriving, chasing credit notes and substitutions.
  • Plan team around supporting big day deliveries and distributing ingredients to all areas of the business.
  • To support all aspects of onsite stock inventory ie: stock taking and regular stock assessments.
  • To maintain standards, company policies and procedures.
  • To ensure prompt and efficient preparation of receipt of goods, unloading and organising of goods of putting away store goods in a safe and timely fashion.
  • Support and assist the Senior Stores Supervisor.
  • Supervise and support training for junior team.
  • Follow temperature recording procedures in line with Sodexo H&S regulations.
  • Operate First In/ First Out procedures.
  • Organise/ separate out deliveries in the main loading bay storage for distribution to the other areas of the business.
  • Record and document all deliveries including temperature control and quality checks.
  • Correspond with suppliers when anomalies occur with deliveries and communicate with management.
  • Manage waste stream systems correctly.
  • Comply with statutory and company requirements
  • Assist with the implementation of cleaning schedules to agreed standards within the food and disposable storage areas.
  • Promote a friendly working relationship with colleagues
  • Promote a good company image to customers and guests by using positive customer service practices
  • To assist with clearing and cleaning of function catering as requested
  • To undertake occasional duties outside the normal routine but within the scope of the position and the department’s activities
  • To report any complaint or compliment and act if at all possible
  • To report any incident or accident, fire, theft, loss or damage and take action as may be appropriate
  • To attend meetings and courses relative to your position.
  • Stock taking and regular assessment of stock volumes necessary to deliver a smooth operation.
  • Assist in other areas of the business as required
  • Ensure that all areas of the loading bay & stores are clean & tidy at all times

  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to achieve and set standards and operate to performance criteria, with particular regard to hygiene
  • Positive approach to learning in role and identifying own training needs as appropriate

Desirable

  • Experience working in a standards /compliance environment
  • Excellent customer focus and service skills
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

  • 40 hours per week 
  • £12.50 per hour
