As a Head Chef at Sodexo in Glasgow Health Nuffield Hospital, you’ll play a vital role in preparing high-quality meals that support patient wellbeing and enhance the overall dining experience. You’ll be responsible for managing your own section of the kitchen, ensuring every dish meets our high standards. If you’re passionate about food, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to be part of a purpose-driven team — this is the role for you. What you’ll do:

  • Ensure completion of all required Sodexo paperwork (e.g. temperature logs, cleaning rotas, electrical checks, COSHH, HACCP, SMS checks using the app).

  • Complete drive information to ensure menus are planned and allergen information is accurate.

  • Print off weekly allergy reports and ensure all manual allergens are completed.

  • Manage the kitchen team to achieve high standards in service and quality by ensuring recipes and specifications are followed.

  • Train all kitchen team members using Sodexo GREAT training cards and perform competency checks.

  • Conduct team huddles to communicate effectively with staff.

  • Attend Sodexo and client meetings as required.

  • Support with rota completion and undergo training in Sodexo wage systems.

  • Complete the client billing sheet accurately.

  • Carry out daily cashing up according to Sodexo trading procedures.

  • Close accounts at agreed times.

  • Comply with any reasonable request made by your line manager in the required time.

  • Comply with any reasonable request made by Nuffield in the required time.

  • Comply with PPDS (Prepacked for Direct Sale) regulations.

  • Ensure feedback from patients and staff meets the highest standards.

  • Be available to work across a 7-day week, including a mix of morning, evening, and weekend shifts.

  • Attend work in accordance with the company's personal hygiene policy and wear a clean, intact uniform.

  • Ensure that unit stores and other potential areas of loss are secured according to management instructions.

  • Assist in special functions that may occur outside normal working hours.

  • Report any customer complaints or compliments and take appropriate remedial action as soon as possible.

  • Report any incidents of accident, fire, theft, loss, damage, unfit food, or other irregularities, and take appropriate action.

What you bring:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and at least 2 years’ experience as a chef
  • Strong culinary skills and a genuine passion for cooking
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a busy kitchen
  • Clear, respectful communication and a strong team spirit
