About the role
Are you the go-to person.. the one who answers the questions, with the know of how to keep the facilities running like clockwork? We are looking to recruit a HVAC Mechanical Fitter to support the operation and maintenance of all plant, equipment and installations within the hospital estate at Central Manchester University Foundation Trust Hospitals mainly within Plant Rooms.
You will be a key member of the Estates Team, carrying out a wide range of planned and emergency mechanical/electrical activities.
You will ensure the safe operation and maintenance of all plant and equipment within the hospital estate, carrying out a range of repairs and new works to a high standard. You will be responsible for the service, installation, maintenance, testing of complex Mechanical/HVAC systems.
A few things about you
We are looking for a qualified, time served mechanical professional with at least 2 years experience of mechanical/HVAC maintenance and installations.
As Sodexo embeds a strong Safety culture in everything we do, there will be procedures, site specific guidelines / requirements and regulations to follow such so it is vital that you have a good understand of Health and Safety at Work regulations and previous experience adhering to set engineering standards.
You must be skilled in the repair of all plant and equipment, having the ability to fault find, diagnose and repair using their technical knowledge on equipment. This will include; Calorifiers, Plate Heat Exchangers, Pressure Systems, Pumps, Motors and Bearings, and BMS Control Systems.
You must be a strong team player with great communication skills, who enjoys working as part of a team. You must be able to work unsupervised and be able to prioritise work tasks whilst remaining calm under pressure.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust
- 27 days holiday plus bank holidays
- In addition to the basic salary there is a Recruitment and Retention Payment of £3,500.00.
- You will be part of an On Call rota for which the standby pay is currently £192.98 plus overtime at rate x 1.5 for time spent on call out and mileage expenses. IF on call on Bank holidays these attract day(s) in lieu.
