Reports to: Director of Safer Custody – Justice
Additional Reporting Line: Head of HSEQ, Government & E&R
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced HSEQ Sub-Segment Lead – Justice to play a pivotal role in embedding a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance across our Justice operations. Reporting to the Director of Safer Custody – Justice and working closely with the Head of HSEQ, this role will provide leadership, coaching, and direction to drive the implementation of HSEQ strategies, processes, and standards that underpin our commitment to Zero Harm and continual improvement.
You’ll act as a trusted partner to operational and HSEQ teams, ensuring that policies, procedures, and legal obligations are consistently met while championing best practice and supporting a culture where safety and quality are at the forefront of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the deployment and monitoring of all regional HSEQ standards across the Justice sub-segment. 
- Support and coach operational teams to ensure compliance, effective risk management, and continual improvement. 
- Drive the Zero Harm Mindset culture through proactive engagement, site visits, data analysis, and action planning. 
- Oversee the investigation of incidents and accidents, ensuring root causes are identified and lessons learned are effectively shared. 
- Collaborate with HSEQ and operational leads to ensure timely resolution of non-conformities and audit findings. 
- Provide expert technical guidance on Health & Safety, Food Safety, Fire Safety, and Environmental matters. 
- Support the creation and delivery of the annual Justice Safety Plan and Segment HSEQ Improvement Plan. 
- Establish and lead HSEQ forums to drive communication, engagement, and performance improvement across the sub-segment. 
- Ensure all RIDDOR reports and supporting investigations are completed and submitted in line with legislative and company requirements. 
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience managing Health, Safety, Environment & Quality in a multi-site or complex operational environment. 
- Strong knowledge of HSEQ legislation, guidance, and best practice, with the ability to translate this into practical business application. 
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) is essential. 
- Demonstrated experience in Food Safety and Facilities Management. 
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels. 
- Confident communicator with strong analytical, organisational, and leadership capabilities. 
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and solutions-oriented with a track record of driving positive cultural change.
