HQ Colchester Garrison G3 Clerk

Job Introduction

Preparing, drafting, revision and distribution of duty rosters in support of the Garrison Sergeant Major (GSM).

Administer and monitor the Colchester Garrison social media sites, escalating highlighted issues as necessary.

Provide administrative support/cover for security and vetting administrator (G2 Clerk) during periods of absence as directed by the Garrison Establishment Security Officer (ESyO).

Liaise directly with Garrison Units, external agencies, contractors, and stakeholders.

Recording and distribution of Public Military Event (PME) notifications to chain of command and Police as appropriate.

Preparation and co-ordination of the Workplace Induction Programme (WIP) for all staff (military and civilian).

Preparation and co-ordination of the Security Awareness Brief (SAB) for all staff (military and civilian).

Provide administrative support to the Garrison Community Action Panel (GCAP) on behalf of the Garrison Commander.

Provide administrative support to Military Aid to the Civil Authorities (MACA) tasks as required by the Garrison Establishment Security Officer (ESyO) and the Chief of Staff (COS).

Administer and monitor the Garrison Caravan, Towed Vehicle and Motorhome park.

Keep existing Security Data bases up to date under the direction of the Establishment Security Officer (ESyO

Role Responsibility

At the direction of the relevant Authority Personnel, perform general duties in accordance with Staff Duties for Administrative Support Staff (Para 1.1, Appendix 3, Section 7 of Part 3 to Schedule 4 of the Project Agreement).

Liaise with outside units to arrange security training for staff.

To maintain all areas of responsibility to the set service standards and in line with applicable service offer to carry out any other reasonable tasks and/or instruction as directed by management.

The Ideal Candidate

Efficient in both written and verbal communication skills.

Proven analytical and planning skills.

Proficient in IT skills, particularly Excel spreadsheets and use of SharePoint.

Social media: skilled in setting-up, monitoring and managing accounts.

Good inter-personal skills.

Persuasive and persistent in achieving challenging objectives.

Good judgement essential.

A self-starter who is proactive in their approach to work.

Able to see the big picture.

Able to make effective decisions.

Ability to foster and promote effective collaboration and partnerships.

Manage and prioritise workload to deliver a quality service in a timely manner.

Deliver effects quickly and efficiently with minimum supervision.

To hold or be willing to obtain SC level clearance.

5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, or equivalent, or NVQ Business Administration Level 2 is desirable .

Previous experience of working in a Military environment is desirable.
