General Manager - Patient Services

Job Introduction

We are looking for a highly experienced Soft FM professional to join our team in Stoke Mandeville hospital as a General Manager – Patient Services, heading up the biggest department on site. This department delivers patient feeding, window cleaning, pest control and domestic services, therefore a solid previous experience in cleaning management and infection control is a must. This department employs over 250 staff that would require strong leadership skills and preferably previous experience dealing with trade unions.

This account sees a lot of projects and large investments and therefore offers excellent development and progression opportunities. The reward package contains a salary up to £56,000, operational bonus and flexible benefits along with Sodexo Employee benefits.

 

Role Responsibility

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction are monitored, measured and managed
  • Manage efficient and patient focused services including cleaning, ward host service, patient dining assembly and production area
  • Ensure that all financial and qualitative targets and KPIs are achieved
  • Efficient financial management of client business within agreed budgets providing financial breakdown and information as required
  • Deliver budgeted profit and turnover for accounts
  • Support Business development and retention of existing business
  • Manage clients proactively, ensuring their expectations are exceeded and effectively communicate all client needs and business opportunities within the division
  • Responsible for recruitment and management of subordinates, and personal development, reward and recognition, appraisals, health and safety, and communication of shared goals
  • Ensure the Sodexo Health& Safety policy is adhered to and that all subordinates are aware of the policy and their responsibility for its implementation
  • Have a flexible approach to managing your business, which may include weekend duty shifts and attendance on site at weekends and/or nights and the responsibility to the company telephone when called
  • Maintain services that exceed the level of performance required in the contractual quality performance regime
  • Eliminate the risk of financial penalties
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with patients, relatives and Trust staff
  • Adopt a team approach and participate fully with colleagues in the delivery and development of efficient integrated services, irrespective of discipline
  • Lead and motivate a large diverse workforce leading by example
  • Ensure the correct use of labour, materials and equipment
  • Ensure adherence to Trust control of Infection policy

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Substantial business management experience at a senior level
  • Proven experience of managing a complex service with a diverse workforce in a customer/patient service environment
  • Proven experience of managing a successful P&L account
  • Ambition and resilience in management and work ethic
  • An effective communicator (verbal and written)
  • Experience of budget management
  • Proven track record of leading, managing and developing a team
  • Experience in budget management
  • Literate in IT
  • Persuasive and Decisive

Desirable

  • Hospital experience
  • The ability to set standards at every level, providing methods of measurement and undertaking such training or remedial action as appropriate where such standards are not achieved
  • Contract and project management skills
  • Flexibility in approach and attitude
