General Manager (IFM, Facilities Management)

Job Introduction

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the daily facilities for a student accommodation operation. With a strong IFM background and knowledge of soft and technical services, you will lead a small team to deliver a high quality service to our customers.

Role Responsibility

  • Efficient management of the day-to-day student accommodation services, including cleaning, security and building maintenance (including fabric and PPM)
  • Act as subject matter expert in the delivery of FM services on site
  • Undertake full responsibility for the maintenance programme and to manage and monitor the contractors accordingly
  • Ensure that all work carried out by contractors is completed to the Sodexo and college standard
  • Undertake health & safety checks to statutory requirements, and to complete all necessary risk assessments when required
  • Ensure full compliance with all aspects of health and safety and to maintain appropriate records for audit
  • Maintain the facility to meet all legislative requirements and to carry out water quality monitoring regime.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous soft and technical FM experience, ideally from a similar environment
  • Strong customer focus
  • Highly effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions/approaches
  • Strong ability to build professional partnerships and communicate at all levels, particularly at senior client levels
  • Good financial acumen
  • Experience of managing HR related issues
  • IOSH and NEBOSH qualifications
