General Labourer

Job Introduction

As a General Labourer (Buffer) at Sodexo in Portsmouth Navel Base, you'll liaise with entitled users of services to manage expectations, manage and coordinate marquee requests to ensure deliver of service meets deadlines and embrace the principles of collaborative business relationships in line with Sodexo’s vision and values.

What you’ll do:  

  • Continue to develop one’s own skills and knowledge within the position, including any required training courses (which will be provided).
  • Maintain excellent client/customer relationships
  • Attend team briefs, huddles and meetings as required
  • Design marquee plans inline with client requirements
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times.
  • Maintain high levels of personal hygiene and wear the appropriate uniform and PPE as required
  • Care and coordinate all available resources including equipment, materials and supplies as directed,  ensuring compliance.  
  • Report any near miss occurrences, accidents or faulty equipment to management
  • Ensure effective communication with line manager, team, customer and client organisation
  • Maintain all areas of responsibility to the set service standards and in line with applicable service offer
  • Raise any security concerns to the relevant site authority
  • Diligently take and hand over every duty shift ensuring that a full check of the daily occurrence and incident report books is carried out on each takeover of duty.
  • Comply with all Sodexo company policies/procedures and client site rules and regulations
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks and/or instructions as directed by management.
  • Ensure that GDPR compliance standards are maintained.
  • Auditor/Assurance for Marquee erections and porterage tasks
  • To ensure that Health & Safety compliance standards are maintained

What you bring:

  • Must be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication
  • Able to work on own initiative and within a team environment
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards
  • Computer literate
  • Hold a valid driving license

Package Description

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday
  • Possible working locations Portsmouth Naval Base, Hampshire and surrounding areas. 
  • £14.50 per hour
  • Car parking 
  • Opportunity for overtime
