Role Responsibility
You’ll be responsible for preparing and serving food with care and attention, replenishing stock, and ensuring all work areas are glistening! With great service at the heart of what we do, you’ll always provide excellent service.
To keep our service running like clockwork, you’ll complete all administration when needed, focusing on tasks such as checking food temperatures, food wastage, cleaning and washing up.
You will always ensure that all Health and Safety regulations are followed.
The Ideal Candidate
This is a customer facing role so it’s important to have a positive, friendly attitude. You will work as part of a team and will need to have strong communication skills, being able to also work independently.
Experience working in a similar industry i.e. food service, catering or hospitality would be great, but generally customer service experience will tick the box!
A general knowledge of health and safety procedures would also be beneficial.

Job Description:
The position of FSA (Food Service Assistant)/ Kitchen porter would be contracted to work term time, 44 weeks on equated pay, which will be spread over a 12-month period of the year from Monday to Friday each week and a total of 27.5 hours a week.
The job would entail to be good at following instructions from management team and the head chef. Be able to work efficiently, effectively in a busy kitchen environment, by ensuring a high level of cleanliness is shown throughout the kitchen, being able to work well and communicate with a team and display good organisational skills.
The daily duties of an FSA/ Kitchen Porter would be to work in the kitchen throughout the busy lunch time periods with the team, to ensure that all crockery is clean and returned to service as required. To work as part of the boarding department at early dinner time to serve hot evening meals to our international students, take part in theme evenings each month and to be apart of a great group of individuals.
Skills/ Qualities/ Qualifications:
Kitchen Assistant needs a variety of skills and qualifications to perform their duties effectively. These skills and qualifications include:
- Excellent organisational skills,
- Able to work as part of a team,
- Good Customer Service qualities,
- A good attention to detail,
- Ability to maintain various stovetops and meat slicers
- Basic knowledge/ experience of food service
- Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene and safety standards
- Attention to detail and interpersonal skills
- Kitchen Assistant experience requirements
Will gain experience on the job, plus take part in Sodexo training in allergens, health and safety including food safety. Applicants must also have experience operating in a kitchen environment, sanitising the kitchen area and attention to detail. Experience in serving hot food, good friendly customer service with being able to go communicate well with others.
