Food Service Assistant – Full Time

About the role

You’ll be responsible for preparing and serving food with care and attention, replenishing stock, and ensuring all work areas are glistening! 

With customer service at the heart of what we do, you’ll always provide excellent customer service. You will serve all customers on our EPOS till, cashing up at the end of service.

To keep our service running like clockwork, you’ll complete all administration when needed, focusing on tasks such as checking food temperatures, food wastage, cleaning and washing up.

You will always ensure that all Health and Safety regulations are followed.

A few things about you 

This is a customer facing role so it’s important to have a positive, friendly attitude. You will work as part of a team and will need to have strong communication skills, being able to also work independently.

Experience handling cash and working in a similar industry i.e. food service, catering or hospitality would be great, but generally customer service experience will tick the box!

A general knowledge of health and safety procedures would also be beneficial.  

Role Responsibility

 

Place of work:               Depuy Synthes, Ringaskiddy, Co Cork

Scope and purpose:      To assist generally with the preparation, cooking presentation and service of food and cleaning of the establishment to the Company’s standard and the client’s satisfaction.

Responsible to:            Catering Manager/Head Chef/ Lead/Supervisor/GSM

Liaise with:                   All catering staff, clients and customers and delivery personnel.

 

MAIN DUTIES

  • To ensure that the preparation, cooking, presentation and services of food is carried out promptly and to the agreed company standards and to promote a friendly and helpful atmosphere;
  • To maintain a high standard of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness in accordance with the company and client policies and statutory requirements;
  • To present food in line with company policy ensuring its customer appeal at all times;
  • To adhere to all aspects of health and safety legislation, food safety legislation (HACCP) and company policy ensuring your own safety and the safety of colleagues and customers;
  • To ensure security of all food/beverage stocks within the food production area;
  • To serve the customers to the Company’s standard, to promote a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and to utilise selling techniques to benefit both the company and the client
  • To carry out cashier duties when required
  • To present a strong Sodexo image at all times ensuring full uniform is worn, clean and pressed;
  • To ensure tables and condiments are kept clean at all times and that condiments are well stocked
  • To assist in setting and replenishing the food service counters and vending machines as and when required
  • To undertake all necessary cleaning to the Company’s standard, according to the cleaning rota, or as directed. 
  • This includes the following: -walls (up to 6 feet), floors, fixtures & fittings, equipment, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, glassware etc..
  • To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene, cleanliness and neatness ensuring full Sodexho uniform is worn at all times. 
  • To comply  with Statutory and Company Hygiene Regulations in handling and storage of food and beverages.
  • To receive any training that is necessary to maintain and improve the standards of the establishment
  • To carry out any reasonable request by the unit manager, client account manager, district supervisor or client.

 

 

INFREQUENT DUTIES

  • To prepare and assist in any special functions, which may sometimes be outside normal working hours;
  • Rotate working hours as required this may include weekend and evening work
  • To report and take action on customer and client complaints or compliments and any incidents of accident, fire, theft, loss, damage, and unfit food or other irregularities;
  • To attend meetings and training courses as may be necessary from time to time;
  • To carry out reasonable periods of overtime as may be required from time to time;
  • To train new colleagues by showing them tasks and how things are done.
