Food Operative Colchester

We are recruiting food operatives from all backgrounds, no experience necessary. What we are looking for is a will to succeed and develop. You give us your hunger and we will help you map a pathway to develop your career through practical on-the-job experience, targeted training through our National Apprenticeship program that compliments your direction of travel, and regular one-to-one support sessions.

Working across our catering and retail locations in Merville Barracks Colchester, you will have the chance to try your hand at batch cooking in a custom built production facility, working in coffee shops, bars, restaurants and retail stores, before deciding which role you want to progress into next. You might want to be a chef; you might want to be a mess manager; you might want to be a project manager or the head of a department. Whatever path you choose, we’ll give you the tools and support to turn your work life into a successful career.

Role Responsibility

  • To complete all food related tasks as instructed and where necessary, assist with food and retail services
  • To continue to develop one’s own skills and knowledge within the position
  • To complete all Company training as instructed
  • To carry out any reasonable request of a member of the management team
  • To comply with Company policies and procedures at all times
  • Ensure that robust control procedures are maintained so as to minimise wastage
  • To strictly follow and adhere to all Hygiene and Cleaning procedures
  • To keep accurate records as required for any given activity
  • To adhere to manufacturing Cook Chill principles, policies and procedures

The Ideal Candidate

Required:

  • Determination to progress
  • Flexibility to work in multiple locations
  • Positive outlook (We love our customers and we want them to know it!)

Desirable:

  • Level 1 Food safety (But don’t sweat it. If you don’t have it, we’ll train you)
  • Experience in food preparation
