Finance Manager
Job Introduction
As a Finance Manager at Sodexo, based on-site at Central Manchester University Hospital, you are also a strategic thinker and a key driver of financial performance. You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day finances of the contract, supporting commercial decision making, financial performance and identification and negotiation of contract variations.
Working closely with the Commercial Finance Controller you’ll be providing financial advice to operational management on site and hold responsibility for budget and the delivery of other initiatives that will drive financial performance within the contract.

What you'll do:
- Support operational managers and the commercial finance controller in making significant decisions, leveraging your financial expertise.
- Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecast process, collaborating with senior site managers and challenging and supporting the process as needed.
- Deliver accurate monthly accounts that reflect all activity within the account, reviewing and analysing site performance and providing insightful commentary.
- Take an active role in client meetings, including monthly reviews of debt, variations, and account queries.
- Establish a robust management review and control process with the senior site management team.
- Maintain a strong forecasting process, identifying issues and opportunities and working with the commercial finance controller to develop action plans.
- Ensure proper implementation of the financial control environment, particularly regarding purchase orders, goods receipting, stock management, and cost control.
- Analyse performance trends, risks, and opportunities in collaboration with the commercial finance controller and operational teams to drive performance improvements.
- Provide financial advice to operational management, supporting performance through commercially sound decision making and analysis.
What you bring:
Ideally you will be a qualified accountant and it would be great if you had experience of PFI contracts or Healthcare, but we would still love to hear from you if you don’t quite tick all the boxes set below.
- Experience providing financial support to complex service contracts.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to challenge, influence, and support at all levels.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines effectively.
- Excellent commercial acumen and strong technical skills to deliver accurate analysis for informed decision making.
- Strategic and analytical mindset with a pragmatic approach.
- Ability to balance day-to-day performance with long-term opportunities.
- Experience in financial modeling.
