Engineering Storeman

Role Responsibility
One of the main duties that a storeman is responsible for is keeping track of what is available in inventory. The storeman must monitor current stock levels to decide if more should be ordered with guidance from the computerized stock system, as well as organizing existing inventory, so it is easily and safely accessible. It is the duty of the storeman to find the least expensive source for the inventory and to keep an accurate record of spending. Along with this, the storeman is responsible for monitoring where the inventory is going, along with how much each department is spending. To do this, the storeman will keep accurate records upon delivery of the stock. The storeman is responsible for helping to develop efficient systems and processes for control of stock. The storeman is responsible for accepting all deliveries of stock. This includes ensuring that they are not damaged and that everything ordered is present and accounted for. They are also responsible for organizing the return of faulty goods and products. Another aspect of the storeman’s job is ensuring the safety and security of the stock. This takes the form of ensuring that there are adequate security systems in place, including guards, cameras, and alarm systems. They must also enforce health and safety rules and train staff on proper practice within the storeroom, as well as emergency procedures The Storeman will be required to work closely with the finance team ensuring regular reports and updates are issued. |
The Ideal Candidate
- Confident capable individual who is able to assess situations and use initiative
- Self-motivated and able to adapt to changing priorities
- Able to demonstrate an aptitude for problem solving using a logical approach
- Confident and logical under pressure but must understand urgency and respond accordingly
- Confident using IT systems and spreadsheets
- Attend external and internal courses as required
- Good understanding of Health and Safety at Work regulations.
- Reporting writing skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills with good level of mathematical skills
Desirable:
- Previous experience of managing an Engineering Stores
- Previous experience within a Health Service context
- Demonstrating maturity in working with multi-discipline trade groups
- Any specialist knowledge relevant to the health care environment.
