Job Introduction

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join our maintenance team based at HMP Bronzefield. As the maintenance electrician, you will work with and you will provide reactive electrical works within the prison while also supporting the maintenance team with daily non-electrical maintenance tasks. You will have specific responsibilities for the statutory compliance of electrical equipment and infrastructure throughout the prison and you will provide technical support, with the ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
HMP/YOI Bronzefield is a closed local prison serving courts across the South of England. Our mission is to deliver quality of life services which make a meaningful difference to women in the criminal justice system by supporting them to change their lives for the better. To achieve this we focus on providing needs-based services and programmes to rehabilitate and improve the well-being of our women.
We house up to 572 women (approximately 14.5% of the national female prison population). The women in our custody have a diverse and complex set of needs and range from mothers and babies, young offenders, life and long term sentenced women, short to mid-term sentenced women, foreign nationals and women on remand.

Role Responsibility
- Carry out repairs and preventative maintenance to all electrical systems where suitably trained within the establishment
- Maintain accurate records of all preventative maintenance and repair work carried out and report in detail any substandard or defective equipment
- Accurate records of maintenance and repair work will be maintained
- All work will be completed to relevant trade standards (18th Edition)
- Perform scheduled maintenance service on electrical systems and fixtures
- Carry out, out of hours call out procedures on an “On Call” rota system and take appropriate action
- Working 5 days in 7 (including occasional weekends)
The Ideal Candidate
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of fault finding, installation and repairs
- Knowledge of commercial electrical repairs on HVAC, AHU, controls and BMS systems an advantage
- Previous experience of testing, inspection and PAT testing
- Proven experience of working with a Health and Safety culture
- Ability to work on own initiative
Package Description
£35,848 Per annum (base salary of £32,395 per annum and a London Weighting payment of £3453 per annum)
