Electrical Operations Manager

Job Introduction

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Operations Manager to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of all plant, equipment and installations within the hospital estate at Central Manchester, establishing efficient and effective compliance review procedures.

You will lead and manage the estates officers, electrical services delivery team and specialist subcontractors and be primarily responsible for the HV & LV Electrical Infrastructure and associated services, specifically to include fire systems within the PFI Hospitals.

Role Responsibility

  • Contribute to the preparation and delivery of the 5 year maintenance plan, annual maintenance plan and lifecycle plan
  • Assist the estates management team with agreeing with the client the annual lifecycle plan and delivery of a cost effective lifecycle replacement plan, ensuring that lifecycle replacement is agreed with the Trust & consortium partners’ representatives taking account of operational and clinical needs
  • Undertake Authorised Person / Competent Person responsibilities in relation to specified systems, minimum HV & LV electrical systems
  • Ensure all electrical services & systems comply in accordance with the Project Agreement, legislative, statutory and HTM requirements
  • Maintain IIP standards in line with accreditation and preparation for reassessment
  • Maintain formal and informal communication with Trust managers related to services activities/ working group. Develop good working relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels
  • Provide technical engineering advice and support for the maintenance of equipment, fabric and utility services for the contracted estate
  • Ensuring a safe working environment and safe systems of work are followed.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Completion of C+G/Btec or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (Level 5 IVQ: 8030-23), recognised electrical apprenticeship, time served
  • Qualified to 17th Edition Electrical Regulations
  • Proven substantial experience within electrical trade
  • Previous HV/LV Authorised Person Appointments
  • Sound understanding of Health and Safety at Work regulations
  • Knowledge of pressure systems, COSHH, water fittings regulations, Medical gas, sterilisers etc.
  • Reporting writing skills
  • Computer literate preferably with knowledge of building management systems
  • Able to demonstrate an aptitude for problem solving using a logical approach
  • Confident and logical under pressure but must understand urgency and respond accordingly

Desirable:

  • Engineering Degree
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering maintenance
  • Previous experience within a Health Service/PFI context.

40 hours per week, flexibility is a must - prepared to work a standby rota.
