Domestic Assistant – North Devon District Hospital

Hours: 28 hours per week

Shift pattern:

Monday–Wednesday: 08:00–14:00

Thursday: 08:00–13:00

Friday: 07:00–12:00

Pay: £12.51 per hour (weekday) / £22.89 per hour (weekend)

 About the Role

As a Domestic Assistant, you’ll help ensure thatevery area of the hospital is clean, safe, and cared for to the higheststandard. You’ll be part of a supportive, friendly team committed tomaintaining hygiene, preventing infection, and promoting comfort across allhospital departments.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out daily and scheduled cleaning tasks to meet NHS and Sodexo cleanliness standards.
  • Cleaning patient and non-patient areas, including floors, furniture, sanitary areas, and clinical rooms.
  • Emptying waste bins and safely disposing of domestic and clinical waste in line with infection control procedures.
  • Replenishing consumables such as soap, paper towels, and toilet rolls.
  • Using approved cleaning materials and equipment safely and efficiently, following COSHH regulations.
  • Responding to ad-hoc cleaning requests and supporting clinical teams as needed.
  • Upholding patient privacy, dignity, and a caring attitude at all times.

About You

We’re looking forreliable, motivated individuals who take pride in their work and understand theimportance of maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Essential:

Experience workingin a cleaning or domestic services role

High standards ofhygiene and attention to detail

Good communicationand teamwork skills

Physically able toperform cleaning duties

Positive andprofessional attitude

 Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment
  • NVQ in Healthcare Support Services or BICSc Cleaning Certificate
  • Awareness of infection control and COSHH regulations

 What We Offer

 Competitive pay: £12.51 per hour (weekday) / £22.89per hour (weekend)

28 hours per week – fixed daytime schedule
