Dismounted Close Combat Trainer Systems Coordinator

Job Introduction

The Dismounted Close Combat Trainer (DCCT) Systems Coordinator is to prepare the two DCCTs for use by the Authority that is to include pre-use checks of the systems and weapons, handing over the DCCT to the Unit DCCT Operator and when required provide technical assistance during the training periods. In addition, the DCCT Coordinator is to prepare the Virtual Battlefield Simulator (VBS) and Brigade and Battle Group Trainer (BBGT)for use by the Authority in accordance with the Combat Training Centre (CTC) booking schedule.

 

Role Responsibility

  • Prepare the two DCCTs for use by the Authority for training periods that is to include pre-use checks of the systems and weapons, handing over the DCCT to a Unit DCCT Operator to conduct the training periods and, when required provide technical assistance during the training periods.
  • At the end of the training periods undertake post training checks of all equipment and, when required report maintenance failures to the MOD Enabling Contractor.
  • Maintain the DCCT equipment and ensure system is calibrated; all faults are to be recorded and notified to the MOD Enabling Contractor in accordance with Annex H  of ARMY DCCT Directive (V4) dated 31 May 17.
  • In support of the MOD Enabling Contractor provide support to analyses system failures, install software and hardware components provided by the MOD Enabling Contractor and undertake monthly anti-virus scans and report issues back to them
  • Manage the DCCT equipment schedule and prepare for stocktaking as notified by the Authority
  • Conduct Basic Unit Operator upgrade/refresher training for DCCT operators as and when required a record of which must be maintained.
  • Prepare the VBS and BBGT for use by the Authority in accordance with the CTC booking schedules. 
  • When provided, prepare the Joint Fires Synthetic Trainer and Simulated Clinical Training Environment for use by the Authority in accordance with the CTC booking schedules. 
  • Perform the task of Building Custodian for the DCCT Building. (Building DO6)
  • When required provide short term cover for the CTC and Urban Training Facilities Coordinator (when established) duties during periods of their absence.
  • Perform such other duties set out at Paragraph 1 of Appendix 3 of the Training Support Services – Service Standards as maybe required by the Authority Line Manager from time to time.

  • To report any near miss occurrences, accidents or faulty equipment to management
  • To ensure effective communication with line manager, team, customer and client organisation
  • To maintain all areas of responsibility to the set service standards and in line with applicable service offer
  • To carry out any other reasonable tasks and/or instruction as directed by management

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Security Check level vetting required
  • Requires MODNET (Communications and Information System) Account and will be required to undertake Defence Information Management Passport training which is a mandatory e-learning course. 
  • IT qualification (e.g. Advanced ECDL)
  • Demonstrable organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable written communication skills
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of IT Systems
  • Working knowledge of  Sodexo Health and Safety Policy and Procedures
  • Qualified basic First Aider
  • Completion of DCCT System Managers Course at the Infantry Battle School, Brecon that will include qualification as a Basic DCCT Operator. Course duration is 1 week and a Pass on the course is required (attendance on Course will be provided by the Authority)

Desirable

  • Previous working experience of DCCT, BBGT and VBS
  • Experience of working in a military environment
