Data Analyst

Job Introduction

We have an exciting fixed term contract opportunity for an experienced Data Analyst to play a critical part in the Supply Management Global data transformation programme. You may work in the Data Science, Data Curation, Data Analytics or Artificial Intelligence (A.I) field.

As the Data Analyst you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the structured and semi-structured data is classified and mastered by our 3rd party AI provider to create unified data sets, you’ll bring a technical knowledge of data curation, experience of MDM & Catalogues and a capability to work accurately with detail from large amounts of data.

As the connection between the Supply Management SME’s and the 3rd party AI provider you’ll need to be able to establish strong working relationships at pace and extract and translate information from SME’s. An ability to clearly articulate yourself and challenge if / when required will be key to your success. You’ll need a technical understanding of the principals of data management, classification and analysis and while experience within a supply management environment would be beneficial it is not essential for this position.

Although the position is offered on an initial fixed term basis, dependant upon project outcome and delivery there may be further opportunities within the transformation programme.

 

Role Responsibility

  • Training new SMEs (category managers) on how to use Tamr and basic concepts
  • Assign most relevant products that need to be classified (labelling) to SMEs
  • Review SME labels (ensuring consistency) and push back inconsistencies to SME’s
  • Reorganizing list of facets into taxonomies
  • Creating and updating classification functions to bootstrap ML:
  • High precision and high model impact:
  • if description contains ‘salmo salar’ then classification = Fish -> Salmon -> Salmo salar
  • High recall and low model impact:
  • if description contains ‘tuna’ then classification = Fish -> Tuna
  • Setting filters to control which data is put into the pipeline.
  • Feedback on 3rd party ML providers to ongoing review
  • Feedback on future approach to data curation needs, to ongoing review
  • Provide a data best practice expertise to the Whole Spend IQ program of activity

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with large scopes of data in a methodical and detail focused way to enable quality and valued classification and unified data sets
  • A process driven orientation and experience of working with cross functional teams and global stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience of engaging with cross-functional stakeholders to determine requirements gain alignment on a future vision.
  • A proven experience in communicating with internal and external stakeholders / end users at all levels as well as suppliers and potentially clients
  • Capable of working independently and foster collaboration within a fast faced environment
  • Experienced in MDM & Catalogues
  • EL Tools experience/capability
  • Proven track record in Planning (workplan, resources) and tracking (indicators, actions)

Package Description

This position is offered on a 4 month fixed term contract

Salary circa £50,000 per annum which will be pro rata for the duration of the contract
