Dark Kitchen Chef

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for a Chef to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join a world leading food and facilities management company, which can offer unrivalled opportunities for career progression.

Role Responsibility

To deliver a high quality food and beverage service via the dark kitchen online ordering platform and other areas as required

Ability to work in a fast-moving complex operation – high volume catering, retail operation with some direct customer contact

Planning and organising for excellent outcomes – quality, resources, operational ease, financially sound, ability to follow strict brand guidelines and tight production timescales

 

  • The preparation and presentation of the food service offer within The Dark kitchen and other units as required
  • Monitor and maintain the online delivery and order platform to effectively produce food within acceptable timescales
  • Continually monitor and uphold all food standards and hygiene standards and ensure they are maintained at the highest level
  • To deliver effective operation of the Dark kitchen functions through active real time management of the online order equipment, own time management and adhering to brand guidelines
  • To ensure the prompt and efficient preparation and service of all meals to the company’s standard, to the client’s satisfaction and in line with brand guidelines
  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the Kitchen to the required standard in the Service Level Agreement.
  • Conform to and uphold Sodexo’s health and safety standards at all times
  • Work effectively alongside Sodexo catering teams and ensure that exemplary services are provided through the Dark Kitchen
  • Work closely with the executive chef to foster long term profitable relationships within the Dark kitchen, with drivers and any direct customer collection contacts, maintain existing business and identify new business opportunities by delivering operational excellence
  • Promoting and uphold Sodexo strategies and best business practices in order to uphold the Company mission and values
  • Foster productive customer and client relationships with deliver drivers which, shows the value of the Sodexo team
  • High Health and safety and food standards to adhere to Sodexo and government standards at all times to retain level 5 registration

 

Catering Operations

Continually monitor and uphold all food standards, to ensure that they are to the required client and Sodexo expectation using brand and company guidelines at all times

uphold all food hygiene and health and safety standards, to ensure they are maintained to the required client and Sodexo expectation as outlined by Safeguard.

To ensure that all food is prepared in line with company and brand standards

People

Work effectively as a team player.

Communicate regularly – attend and take an active part in Team Huddles, Daily/weekly/monthly face to face team briefings as required. Adopt the Sodexo principles and follow policies as required

Finance

Protect the company’s profit by adhering to brand guidelines at all times to achieve the  Sodexo budget each month.

Support the Dark Kitchen Chef de Partie to ensure stock, debt and assets are correctly controlled

Business Improvement

Always seek out new and innovative ways of doing things

Be proactive in overcoming barriers to success.

Provide feedback on how we can improve our performance.

To deliver a consistent level of service, within the Company's high standards, to the contract specification, brand standards and agreed performance, qualitative, KPI’s and financial targets.

Comply with Company and statutory regulations relating to safe systems of work, health & safety, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and COSHH.

Work closely with the dark kitchen team to increase the Client and Sodexo’s revenue opportunities i.e., commercial opportunities, labour efficiency and generate the GOP expected when required

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria

  • Strong level of literacy and numeracy
  • Demonstrated high volume food production experience
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent ability to communicate in written and spoken English
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Able to demonstrate positive attitude to self-development; willingness to learn in role and identify own training needs as appropriate
  • High level of self-motivation
  • Ability to set high standards, achievable through striving for continuous improvement
  • Ability to act on own initiative and also to work effectively as part of a team
  • Flexible approach to role
  • Knowledge of health & safety and food safety

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Dark kitchen / delivered food service kitchen experience
  • High volume kitchen experience

Hold a personal driving license
